I am a 6 year CPAP user. I have always had mixed results getting my AHI numbers down. I started using a Fit Life Mask abound 2 months ago and My AHI's dropped drastically with
little leakage. After 6 weeks my leakage increased and I am having trouble wearing it all night. The seal in not replaceable. I guess the seal has deteriated in 6 weeks to the
point that I cannot wear it all night. Has anyone else experienced this type of problem?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Fit Life Mask Help
Have you cleaned the cushion thoroughly?
Try washing it with dishwashing liquid -- not antibacterial, and little to no scent -- to get any
oils off. Then wash your face before bed and try it again.

Re: Fit Life Mask Help
Which Fitlife do you have? The Fitlife Full Face or Fitlife Total Face mask?

Re: Fit Life Mask Help
I have the Fit Life Total Face mask.
I wash my face each night . I also wipe the mask with non antibacterial wipes and will soak in warm water with Dawn.
It was better last night buy I slept 6.5 hours and my leakage was 15 l/min.
Thanks

Re: Fit Life Mask Help
In the past several years, I could barely get 3 months on the mask. I would get leaks around the temples. In the last year, I have been getting a little longer than prior years. Respironics has redesigned the harness. It is a beige (instead of blue) and the velco has a plastic backing which makes the velcro lasts longer. I'm thinking that you may not get more mileage out of your mask than what you are now getting. In my opinion, the total face mask has more surface area around your face that requires more sealing area. Since all our faces are different, the same mask may last longer (or shorter) than others. I think Froggie (Chunkyfrog) once told me her hubby gets a whole year outta' one mask. That would never.... ever... happen to me.

Re: Fit Life Mask Help
I was advised, by the RT of the first sleep center I went to, to never use little packaged wipes as they dry out the silicon, and make it less flexible, leading to leaks. Yes, I know that some DME's sell the same wipes just to clean the cushion on masks.
I echo the guy who said that the head piece elastic does not last the six months Medicare says it is to last before replacement. I buy extra elastic head straps from our sponser cpap.com to cover the some other months.
I have also found that being very intense on cleaning masks, cushions is likely to make them less flexible, and lead to leaks.
Take a look at the little flapper valve and make sure it is doing the right thing. I had one mask where it got unseated and closed partially sideways, the DME replaced that mask without any fuss or me shipping the defective one back.
