What is "normal?

Post by LilBuckaroo » Wed Feb 09, 2005 3:24 pm

To begin with, I don’t know how long that I have had OSA, but I do know that I’ve been on the hose for approx. 6 weeks using a CPAP with pressure set @10 and an FF mask. My sleep doctor told me that my condition did not warrant a Bi-PAP, an AutoPAP, or any other variable pressure PAP. My problem is this, sometimes I can sleep for 8 hours, get up and feel great. But, there are times that I can sleep for 8 hours, be up for 2-3 hours, think that I have slept well, and want to go back to bed. If I do go back to bed, on the hose of course, when I get up again, I feel much better. If I don’t go back to bed, I can feel as though I haven’t slept for days. My mask is comfortable as far as masks go. It stays in place, no leaks, etc. If there is such a thing as “normal”, with this condition, is this normal? I don’t want to spend the rest of my life centered around sleeping! Could I be trying to make-up for a sleep deficit?
As always, any input would greatly appreciated. Sleep well, my fellow “hosers”!

I also started with a CPAP at 10 and was on it for 2-3 months. I never really got to feeling better. At the check up with doctor, I complained. He got me scheduled again and next it was a BiPap set at 14 and 9. You may have to have more communication with your doctor. I am certainly a lot happier now, than before. Just keep trying.
