F&P Oracle

Post by hecate » Tue Apr 04, 2006 1:43 pm

Hi,

I have just reveived an F&P Oracle to try for a month. I haven't had much time to play with it, but couldn't resist trying it on the way back to work. I sure hope no one saw me in the car that I know.

It sure felt very comfortable in the car. Maybe if I sleep in the car this will work out for me. It did seem though that I could wear it without any straps. Do any oracle users out there do just that? Does it work okay?

I'm wondering if I should also lower my pressure settings a notch with this new mask as I won't be fighting my congestion. Do you think I should also turn up my HH it's currently set to 3 and with that I don't get rain out. I'm think a higher HH setting will prevent any dry mouth.

I'll keep you informed on how it works out for me while sleeping.

Crank your Humidity up to as high as possible. With the Oral mask you need more moisture as your nose adds moisture to your breathing and your mouth doesn't do the same.

I wore my Oracle without the strap. Others had problems with it squishing their lips. I stopped using mine because the nose plugs would blow out and I could not stop the leaks from nose breathing. Which is even noisier than mouth breathing when you are using a nasal interface.

I hope it works for you.

Day 1 oracle 452:

The mask feels very nice when you put it on. When you turn the machine on it gets a wondeful seal. So wonderful I thought I might have to get it off with a crowbar in the morning. The problem that goes along with that is the marks it leaves on your face and on the inside of your lips. I think that even a beaded man (or woman!) could get a seal with it. They may be clean shaven by the morning though! The tightness does make it a little uncomfortable though. I may try and shoot a few moles and see if that helps while still keeping a good seal. On that point check out the interesting leak graph from last night. Nice smooth leak rate for the most part. My nose didn't seem to leak. Early on in the night I could feel a little pressure behind the plugs, but put that down to needing to get used to mouth breathing again after forcing myself to nose breathe for the last month.

My snores where way up according to the chart, but since I was awake until after the break (bathroom break) I place little stock in them. I will need to raise my top pressure by the looks of it. It will be interesting to see my oxygen saturation chart today. I woke up with a headache and don't feel as good as I have been, but that may be due to lack of actual sleep. Since the clock change I have been having problems sleeping. I started Provigil on Monday although that's not supposed to affect sleep. I also have a job interview today along with only having the oxygen monitor for two days could be causing stress induced lack of sleep.

Edit: I should add that one major problem is that I couldn't tell if the machine was on since it was so quite and there was very little exhaust.

I of course will keep trying.
