High AHI the last month

Post by Cuda » Thu Jun 13, 2013 10:06 am

For some reason I am getting AHI of more than 10 for the last month. Looks like the old days. No leaks or anything. I am going to take the machine to the DME to make sure its putting out the pressure its suppose to but other than that I have no idea what could be going on. I have not changed my sleep habits and I have actually lost weight. In other news I have some sort of heart problem. They are looking into it now, skipped beats etc.

I am wondering the heart problem is causing this or maybe the apnea is getting worse and causing the heart issues. My best guess is they are unrelated.

I am pegging a full 13 on APAP so maybe more pressure? Thing is I have actually lost weight. I am under 175lbs at 6'1. I use to get AHI under 1 all the time. My CPAP pillow I purchased is already soft and warn so maybe my head is more at a downward angle just enough to cause this, that is my best guess for whats going on.

I should do that shouldn't I? I ask it often enough.
That one I can type really quickly...some of my other stuff that you see....I have it all saved on notepad files so I don't have to compose the same stuff every time the same questions get asked...over and over again.
All those links I spout off...most of them I have saved too. I don't go looking every time.
You all know I am way too lazy...anything I can do to save my fingers I do it.

No, mostly obstructive. Today I had 0.9 so thats good. I am thinking it may be sleeping position or something. I will see what happens tonight and post. I might bump up pressure as well.

What is your minimum pressure?
That would be where I would start with a little increase if it were me.
Let the machine try to do a better job of holding the airway open to start with so that the flow reductions and snores don't have a chance to grow up into full blown obstructive apneas or hyponeas.
Don't just raise the maximum pressure though....increase the minimum for sure...changes in maximum may or may not be needed if the minimum does a better job in the first place.

I swallow a lot of air which is why I have the minimum set to 8.5 right now but I will try bumping it back up and posting the results.

Something that I learned from veteran poster Wulfman (Den) was first to check for leaks (you've done that) and then filters.

Whenever my AHI creeps up a bit, I replace my filter (I only use the grey one), and it's done the trick for me several times.

Good luck finding the source of the AHI increase.
