Re: First time traveling with CPAP (S9)

If you are sitting up and had a soft cervical collar on, would you still snore so loudly and/or not be able to sleep? I'm counting on be able to sit up and use my collar during my upcoming flight. Also, I have scheduled in sleep time once I get into the hotel, because I might want to just remain awa...

Re: OT: NYC Train Victims Sue Engineers Dx?

If the doctor prescribed testosterone to treat this "low testosterone", this might have worsened his sleep apnea. Even the TV ads note this precaution. The man's work-up does look as if he complained of fatigue. Interesting case to follow.

Re: Question about dust in machine

I'm not real crazy thrilled about the way the S9 filters fit in the machine. I take care to get it installed right and after about two weeks, when I lift my microbial filter out, there are faint traces of dust on the inlet area (plastic) where the intake air makes it's way around the edges of the f...

Re: Anesthesia Issues/3-6 Turbinate Red./Septoplasty Surgery

49er, this is very interesting. I had surgery almost two years ago, and the anesthesiologist said that intubation with a general was his preferred method with someone like me (severe OSA/desats). He convinced me that he was "more in control to monitor" than if he just gave me sedation. In fact, he s...

Re: irritated gums

Mouth breathing, especially with PAP, creates the dry mouth which leads to higher levels of bacteria in the mouth infecting the gums. I've done everything to control the mouth breathing and oral hygiene. By oral hygiene, I mean a complete regime of flossing multiple times a day, Gel-Cam & Pro-Health...

Re: In nasal pillow styles, what's better than the Swift FX?

Violetpro, what are your motivations to change or problems with the SwiftFX? I have curiosity about the new AirFit P10, but I cannot beat the zero leaks and extremely low AHI that I have with the SwiftFX. So for me, I think I stick with what my brain has gotten so accustomed to using nightly. The Ta...

Re: Class action suit against Apria

Although, I have not experienced any major complaints with Apria. Sir's comments reminded me of how one Apria phone assistant, said upon taking my order, "Well, you'll need two pillows, one for each nostril". So I have lots of XS pillows to spare.

Re: Tooth Enamel/ CPAP Question

Double congrats on your new baby and your second anniversary. My opinion is that the teeth thinning is just due to the chronic acid reflux plus aging. The reflux should improve with continued PAP usage. Even without reflux, our teeth tend to thin with age, which my hygienist estimates that 98% of th...

Re: OW! My teeth!!!!

I'm still using the same night guard that the dentist custom-fit for me back in 2004, after paying thousands for chipped teeth from the nocturnal grinding. Over the years, the guard has been adjusted, just by filing down for no charge. One night, I didn't wear it because now with PAP, I figured that...

Re: Reviews of new AirFit P10 Resmed nasal pillow mask thread

A friend called ResMed inquiring about the headgear stretching out, and they replied that if the headgear is put into water, the headgear shrinks back to its original shape due to new technology. Does anyone have experience with this water immersion of the headgear?

Re: First Night With the Swift FX for Her...and An Introduction

Although, I've tried other masks, the Swift FX still is so comfortable after over two years. I use the Pad-a-Check padded strap & barrel cozy. Instead of a chin strap or PapCap, I use a soft cervical pillow to prop my jaw closed. After a few weeks on the pillow, my nares became irritated; so if not ...

Re: CPAP and Glaucoma

I have been on CPAP since December and my intraocular pressures have gone from 21 to 25 which is close to glaucoma levels. I read this article stating CPAP can increase eye pressures. So can sleep apnea, so one is damned if they do and damned if they don't here. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1...

Re: Biotene formula has changed :( Update

The past two months, both my husband and I have switched to alcohol-free BreathRx which does contain xylitol and zinc. http://www.amazon.com/BreathRx-Anti-Bacterial-Mouth-Bottle-Economy/dp/B000US2532/ref=sr_1_1?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1390581984&sr=1-1&keywords=breathrx+anti-bacterial+mouth+rinse Although...

Re: Nuvigil or Provigil without insurance...

My husband took Provigil for a few years, then tried Nuvigil which seemed to be doubled the potency. So take the minimal dose while your body is recovering from years of OSA. Initially he did this, as he could not tolerate PAP or the oral appliance. But his new doctor frowned upon the use of these m...
