Re: "Failure Message"
Thank you to everyone who has replied. It's especially helpful in light of the fact that I've not heard back from my provider! I will try the suggestions and now I don't feel quite so frantic with the available options.

"Failure Message"
I got a "failure message" on my machine this morning that said Humidifier failure, replace humidifier. I've send a message to my RT, from whom I get my supplies but I've not heard back from him. I can't turn my machine off and I don't know about unplugging it while it is on but to be honest, I'm a b...

I would like to think of something clever and funny to add to what has been said but I think it's all been covered. Just remember the URL of this group and any time you feel down, come here and talk to your new family!!

Re: online degree in neurodiagnostics and sleep science
There is a sleep center in my area but it is not staffed by doctors who specialize is sleep disorders so outside of the respiratory technicians, it's not too helpful to me.

I hope this will lead to more programs that specifically treat sleep apnea. I currently "see" a pulmonologist for my SA but it would be nice to have a specialist.

Sore throat....is it possible for CPAP to cause it?
Before this weekend I would have said no but now I'm not so sure as I woke up during the night with a very bad sore throat. My GP doc says not strep and when I mentioned CPAP, she said she doesn't know. I use a moderate humidity and I've never had a bit of trouble before but now that I have this wic...

Re: OTC sleep med
This works for me and if it is an option for you, try it.However, to prevent sleeplessness, I found that physical exercise during the day is the best way to ensure that I sleep well at night. So I make sure I walk for 45 minutes or so at lunch or after work. That does the trick for me.

If that is true, the young fellow on the cover of Time magazine should never have to worry! (I was breast fed and I have a very narrow palate.)

Re: ...died in his/her sleep...
It's OK jnk. I think that people who have sleep apnea are far more inclined to treat it if they have family who had it and/or know someone who had it. I do think that a lot of the (especially old ones) obituaries that say Mr. Jones died in his sleep are probably more related to sleep apnea than not....

Re: lips blow open
I'm sure you will get lots of suggestions here. No matter how tightly you have your chin strap, your lips will still blow open. Several people have success with taping their lips (do a search on taping lips), some switch to full face masks and various other solutions. I was able to get my deluxe chi...
