MyCPAP

Post by LinkC » Fri Mar 23, 2012 10:35 am

I was doing some computer cleanup and ran across the folder "MyCPAP". In it are several files that appear to read data cards and perhaps upload to online storage. https://www.cpap.com gets me an online DME. http://www.cpap.org gets me to an insulation firm in Europe!

Any idea what this is? And is it still functional and/or something I want to keep? Google is stumped.

Those are from a website that we used to be able to store our M Series data at..Though I never used it for that reason.
They had the little program/file that we could use to erase the Smart Cards. Remember back when the M series machines seemed to have blank nights and it was thought that erasing the Smart card every so often would prevent that from occurring?

Anyway...the little program was called
CardUtilityInstaller...I still have it in my downloads but I don't think it will work with Windows 7.
It did work just fine on Vista and older though.

This little program can't be found anymore. Website went defunct I think.

Ah! Thanks... I thought I remembered something like that. Guess I can dump that whole folder if the site is defunct. And I'll be keeping the 6 yrs of Encore Pro data (God knows why...)!

I still use the MyCPAP program to save the data off my smart card, and then to erase the smart card each week.

Does a nice job.

+1, I'll still be using my M Series for some time to come, and have another as a backup machine that I'll have for God only knows how long. That little program is part of my Sunday morning routine. (Not happy to hear about it not working on Win7 though, since I've been considering upgrading.)

It might work in Windows 7 if when you install it you run it in compatibility mode for Vista or XP.

I don't know for sure it won't work on all Windows 7 computers. I just know that one person reported that it wouldn't work on their Win 7 64 bit computer. I no longer have a DT 3500 to test it on my new computer. The program was written prior to Windows 7 though.

It was I who couldn't get in to work in Win7 Ultimate. Since I knew it wasn't written for Win7 and I was only trying it to see if it worked I spent zero effort other than just running the install.

IF you have a need by all means try other methods you can think of and report back.

If you have Windows 7 Ultimate or Pro you can install virtual PC and then install XP mode and run it in Xp.

Why?

Hope you're not talking to me....that is far too much work.

If it don't work and I don't need it, I think I'm done. Did my part, next.

Same here. I don't need it at all. I will keep it available and send it to someone if they wish to mess with it but I am not going to put any effort into working out any issues with it.
It only works for the smart cards anyway.

I just put it there for anybody,if they don't need it anymore great, but if they for some reason did then that will work. There's a lot of people that read forums and never post or join but get ideas from them.

How true and just to clarify for those reading along at home or future readers who haven't been following along, allow me to clarify.

So much of this took place in another thread where we were trying to help another member.

The member was having troubles with his smartcard and or reader. I for one have never seen a smartcard go bad but have seen them get corrupted by removing them while the card is being written to. The ONLY way I know to fix this w/o replacing the card is to format the card. The ONLY way to format this smartcard I know of is to use a utility (provided by a long time but unknown to me member) which is no longer supported. Well this program was written for Windows XP.

Now this doesn't mean that IF someone had a need to get this program working that some fine forum members wouldn't jump in to find a solution and prob more than one.

To my way of thinking by far the easiest way to use this utility would be to install it on an XP computer. If you have another way kindly share it when needed.

A final note - said member may no longer even need to use a cpap machine. That is good news and another reason I wouldn't go thru all the other mumbo jumbo to get the program working on Win7. Plus I think he said he had an XP machine and you would prob only need it for that format program.

I definitely wasn't asking anyone to go and troubleshoot/figure it out. If I do upgrade to 7 at some point, I'm sure I can come up with some workaround.
