I am about to
Vader wrote:start a poll about whether OT posts must be marked OT
but am unsure as to whether or not it should be marked "OT".

If I mark it OT, then all the posters who do not read OT will not vote, yet those are the people whose votes would be most critical.

Just one asteroid.

Doesn't even have to be that big, either.

Is that too much to ask for?

Just one.

About the size of Texas.

@Dreamdiver - won't you tell us what you learned?

@jnk - you know how Gumby plays. When people wail on him he wails back. It seems people don't like it when that happens, the wailing back part. Gumby is as flexible as can be, it seems other are just NOT flexible at all.

@BlackSpinner - I really do like your logic. This makes it pretty clear.

Nobody is forcing you to read the OT threads or to post on them. Adults are quite capable of making a decision like that. If you are on a bus do you feel the need to jump into every conversation?

Apparently, only some adults have that ability?

Note - Gumby doesn't do politics. Something to be grateful for?

Good to know
Thanks for the post!
GumbyCT wrote:If you didn't know this is OT but opened it anyway then don't blame me.

It is just something I read and thought I'd share. I esp. don't like and tend to avoid "toolbars" for anything, or programs anything that I can do - like passwords. Why do I want to store my passwords in some program I know nothing about? Then when I can't remember what the password is - whose fault it that?

Takeaway: From fake antivirus apps to uninvited toolbars, scamware can bog down your users’ PCs — and sometimes do a whole lot worse.

Anyway here is a link to read about the "Subject".

Beware - My advice is worth exactly what you paid for it. Hope you do find it helpful and useful.

If "he" had stopped bumping this (for his friends to pile on), this thread would have fallen off the front page the first day.

Good to know a few people are happy and sleeping well.

From another post...
GumbyCT wrote: I am pleased that someone appreciates the sharing that comes from the heart.

Imagine how boring this world would be IF everyone thought and behaved the very same way?
I have said it before but I think it warrants repeating -

I have never learned a thing from someone who always agrees with me.

And I think I have learned something from the folks here who
"Expect" that "Everyone" Should think AND behave as "they" do.

I have always told my children - "IF you never expect - YOU will never be disappointed".

Me thinks that people here need "Diversity Training".

If you receive an emale with Subject = YouTube Service sent you a message: Your video has been approved

Do NOT open it or if you do - Do NOT click on any links as they are considered DANGEROUS and will install Malware.

-----------------------------------------

So you should not click on any links from that email because it will redirect you not to youtube but to an IP address something like: 67.199.66.27/bind.html

If you navigate to that link Google Chrome will tell you that:
"Warning: Something's Not Right Here!
67.199.66.27 contains content from images.motioncontrolrobotics.com, a site known to distribute malware. Your computer might catch a virus if you visit this site. ...."

So pay attention to emails like this.

Thanks for the heads up, Gumby!
I really appreciate it!
Although I try not to use any of Googles privacy stealing services, I might have fallen for this scam.

New wave of phishing attacks serves malware to PCs and Macs

Summary: Malware distributors have launched a new wave of attacks aimed at taking over unpatched PCs and Macs. They look like routine messages from a bank or a social network, but instead of phishing for passwords, they’re serving up malware.

In the past few weeks, I’ve noticed an alarming increase in fraudulent email messages coming to some old, well-established email addresses of mine.

It’s not just the quantity of messages that’s noteworthy, it’s the quality as well. This particular wave of attacks includes some attacks that are frighteningly real looking. And they’re being used to serve up a toxic brew of malware to unprotected systems.

Consider these two examples of messages I received this week. The first appears to be a fraud alert from American Express:
