These are great when you need focus or drown out other sounds. I use them all the time when I have to work or do homework.

Sure...just put your computer on the nightstand next to your CPAP...

It doesn't have to be on your night stand necessarily. If it's in the same room you should be good. The beauty with white noise is being able to crank up the volume without it sounding too loud.

Get a Saint Bernard and let it sleep between you.

If anybody is looking for white noise you should check out the app store on your phone for a white noise generator. I know the android market has many free ones available. These generators are really useful because you have many sound options including rain, static, waves, white noise, fan, rainforest etc. The one I personally use is https://market.android.com/details?id=com.tmsoft.whitenoise.lite. These will eat up your battery life so make sure you have your phone plugged in if you're going to use it overnight.

Easy....Don't face each other

I find it so much easier to sleep next to my husband with his CPAP machine than his horrible snoring.

Depending on the mask sometimes you can change the direction of the air vent. I pull the tube on my PR Comfort gel over my head and have it velcroed there. It makes the air vent down and not out. May be helpful for you too.

1. Consider switching sides of the bed so you face away from each other, instead of toward each other. "Spooning" is nice, as long as he is in front.

2. Some masks are better at diffusing the air than others. The Swift FX, for example, is built so it almost guarantees it will blow on someone :x . but hanging the hose points the vent in the other direction (up toward the ceiling instead of down to bounce off the bedding) and the problem is (mostly) solved. So he could try other masks, or try hanging the hose (this works best when the vent is on the "elbow" instead of around the connection to the mask itself).

Some here have had luck taping a thin layer of medical gauze loosely over the vent, so it diffuses the blast but doesn't restrict it. Good luck, I know I hate it when it bounces back at me.

white noise here too - works great for my light-sleeping DH.

Are these the ones?

Does one have to keep the cords on? I think between the cords and the CPAP hose, the cords on the hose management system, not to mention all the rest of the gear, it's possible to inadvertently hang myself!

How long have you been battling the CPAP noise?

Maybe just putting up with it is the best thing. People get used to sleeping next to train tracks, airports, etc. If you just get used to it, then you don't have to mess with earplugs, noise generators, fans, etc.

Maybe getting a noise generator or fan to start with and gradually turning it down or moving it away until you don't need it would work, too.

Another way to help cut down on the machine noise if it is on a night stand, is to put the machine on top of a thick rubber pad such as several mouse pads. This isolates the machine and helps prevent the night stand acting like a sound board for the machine. My wife and I also sleep with a pillow between us to help block the noise and air, also I try and sleep with my head lower down in the bed than hers, to prevent my mask blowing air in her face, or down her neck. I go to bed about an hour after she does to allow her to get to sleep before I come in quietly and start my machine
