Re: How did you know something was wrong?

I had my first sleep study when my then-primary doc (a pulmonologist) suggested it because he was trying to figure out why I had Fibromyalgia. That study showed mild myoclonus (leg jerks), though I was told about that time that I kicked pretty hard sometimes . No apnea showed up, so he treated what ...

Re: Should I get a new sleep study done?

It seems to me that the key is you are feeling well and getting decent numbers for AHI and AI. Unless you have good insurance so it wouldn't cost you much at all, you don't sound like you need a new one now. My understanding is that an AHI<5 is usually associated with feeling well rested, though thi...

Re: New to VPAP, several questions (been on CPAP)

I was able to find a reader for S8 cards on ebay, and it arrived today. I put the card that I got with the machine into the VPAP and got repeated errors. Well, then I figured maybe I could figure out what was wrong if I could get the reader attached to a computer. The computer looked for software fo...

Re: Cpap Pro - has anyone tried it?

Well, it is nasal pillows, but there isn't a head gear to deal with and it's got the added benefit of helping my jaw feel better all day.

Re: Cpap Pro - has anyone tried it?

I've recently purchased a CPAP Pro and here are my comments on it (so far). I hope they are helpful. * Adjusting the mask pieces has been frustrating because I'm having trouble getting the pillows to stay at my nostrils without being pushed inside the openings. Tonight I'm going to try twisting the ...

Re: Please read this

I agree you should have a sleep study. That will hopefully eliminate or ease some of the symptoms, though it may take a month or more. After that you and your doc will have an easier time figuring out what else is going on. I got started on this path mainly because of fatigue and multitudes of aches...

Re: Experienced hosers! Travel/Backup bipap machine help.

I just got a used ResMed S8 Auto 25. I don't know anything about the other machine you mention. I can say, though, that your concern about your mask not being compatible shouldn't be an issue. As far as I can tell (after reading the clinician's manual several times), the Auto 25 isn't one of the "Re...

Re: New to VPAP, several questions (been on CPAP)

Well, with the exhale minimum set at 9 or above my AHI has still been high, but my AI is below 1. With the settings wide open I had an AI that was higher and my AHI was also higher (about half apneas and half hypopneas I figure). With the comments it seems I'm heading in the correct direction by cha...

Re: New to VPAP, several questions (been on CPAP)

Thanks for the info about getting the card reader on ebay. The manual says there is/was also an adapter that connected to the machine and had a USB end to use with the computer. I'll look for both. I'm still fighting with my settings. Grrr... Last night I tried setting my lowest exhale at 10, and I ...

New to VPAP, several questions (been on CPAP)

I just started using a VPAP a few days ago, and I'm struggling with a few questions. Any help I can get would be wonderful. First, I started with the lowest minimum and highest maximum the machine does (3 and 25) using the V setting. With a pressure differential of 3, I had an AHI of over 12, with m...

Re: Anyone Struggling with BOTH Apnea & Autoimmune Issues Here?

I'm another one with both apnea and autoimmune problems. I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, allergies (including all molds in the air or in food), and Asthma. Autoimmune issues run in the family, since my sister has Lupus, and my father, sister, sons (2), etc have allergies and Asthma too. The F...

Re: Oxygen Deprivation - Who knew?

YMMV (Your mileage may vary), but I get horrible headaches in the morning if my humidity has been bumped and is too low, or I've run out of water. I hope this helps someone.

Re: Seeking Temporary Solution for Bruxism/Jaw clenching

My dentist told me that the bite plates that cover all your upper teeth actually increase the pressure on your TMJ and the amount of grinding. He made me a bite piece that only covered my front two teeth (and a bit more on each side). The first few days my jaw hurt like crazy, but afterward I was mo...

Re: Numbness in fourth, fifth fingers

I've had the same problems with my hands (and my feet actually) and it started when I was in labor with my first son. The neurologist said I was leaning on my elbows too much, and avoiding that has helped some. Actually, though, I think that I was leaning on the rails of the bed and on my elbows so ...

Re: Help with gift Sullivan V Elite please...

Thank you all for your help . I knew the machine was old, since the person who used it died in 2004. His fiance gave it to me in hopes it would help. I was able to rig a connector for my hoses, but I still need to try the new information I've been given so I can adjust it. At the same time I've been...
