Re: Balloon Mouth

Pugsy's recommendation to train your tongue to stay attached to the roof of your mouth is right on and has worked for me. I have been using a SWIFT FX for almost 2 years now. I used to have major mouth breathing and ballon cheeking issues but since training my tongue to stay attached to the roof I n...

Re: Link between GERD and Sleep Apnea

I have been taking Prilosec and now Prevacid for over 12 years now for Acid Reflux (GERD). I started using CPAP 13 months ago and I have noticed my acid reflux has been a lot less noticeable. My doctor told me on my last visit to cut down to 1 pill every other day rather than everyday. His reasoning...

Re: Do you use a hose cover with the Climateline? Pretape?

My wife has an embriodery business at home and she knows how to sew pretty well. I asked her to make a cover for my Climateline hose and she made a thin fleece like cover that goes over the hose. It didn't take much to make and was very cheap to make. It is soft to the touch. I would highly recommen...

Re: Anyone try "Nose Breathe for Heavy Mouth Breather" device?

Rested Gal,

Thanks for supplying the links for Nosebreathe. Not sure I will buy one. My cheap boil and bite works pretty well at reducing mouthbreathing.

Anyone try "Nose Breathe for Heavy Mouth Breather" device?

I came across this mouth breathing device that sounds like it could help CPAP users that use nose pillows (Swift FX). Many CPAP users experience air loss through the mouth as the jaw drops and CPAP air escapes. I hate to see my leak rates over 13 and wake up with dry mouth. This forum has suggested ...

Re: new robotic surgery

dogluvr, I just saw the Today show segment on new Robotic Surgery as a revolutionary cure for sleep apnea. It certainly looks like a viable option to CPAP. The policemen that they featured underwent a slep test and they immediately found that he had stopped breathing for 1 minute. He underwent this ...

Re: Anybody try the "Ultimate Chin Strap"

Alicia, Will have to give that chin strap a try. I found the Ultimate Chin Strap to be uncomfortable. I struggle at times with my jaw dropping and mouthbreathing and I am trying to wean myself off of a chin strap. I use a cheap sports mouthguard that I insert at the upper teeth area and it helps red...

Dental Devices vs. Cpap or with CPAP Opinions?

Looking for forum readers opinions on dental devices for OSA? A local dentist has an add for Full Breath Sleep Therapy and uses a mouth appliance. Google shows several models Thornton Adjustable Positioner (TAP) , there is Somnodent etc. Pugsy says there has been talk on the forum before but I am lo...

Re: EPR: just a comfort feature or affects AHI

I have to agree with Bernie Ray. Due to severe jaw drop and mouthleaks I was forced to switch from the Swift FX nasal pillow to a Full Face mask. My DME did not have the HYBRID that is supposed to be a good choice for mouth breathers so I picked up a Quattro FX. I just used my new Quattro FX for the...

Re: Mouth guard helps with breathing & teeth grinding

I recently bought the upper Walmart mouthguard ( I believe made by Rawlings) for $1.00. It has significantly reduced my mouthbreathing loss when I am using my Swift nasal pillow setup and Purecom chinstrap. My jaw will still will fall at times and get some air escaping. Maybe an upper and lower mout...

Re: Anybody try the "Ultimate Chin Strap"

I have a mustache/goatee so I think that taping will not be an option for me. The suggestion about using a boil and bite mouthguard seems interesting.Would a mouthguard prevent your jaw from dropping?

Also, will have to look at using an ace bandage.

Anybody try the "Ultimate Chin Strap"

I am a newbie to CPAPTALK. I have not any luck with PureSom Ruby Adjustable Chinstrap XL and ResMed Swift FX. It seems my jaw drops quite often in the midddle of the night and air will blow out of my mouth. I get "dry mouth" and a poor nights sleep. I really do not like the design of this chinstrap ...
