Re: THE GREAT PILLOW EXCHANGE
I have one large and two small Swift nasal pillows, as well as at least a dozen mediums. I recently upgraded to an AirSense and a nasal mask, and while I'm keeping my old S9 as a backup I don't think I need to hang on to all the masks I had stockpiled.

Re: Disposal of old CPAPs
I just got a new AirSense 10 and have been wondering about what to do with my old machines. I have two ResMed S9 CPAPs one of which I used constantly at home for about eight years and one which I used when travelling for the last five (and subsequently has a lot fewer hours of use). I've also got a ...

Re: OSCAR Suggestions & Bug reporting
I managed to get OSCAR running, but when ever I open it I still get a pop-up telling me that it needs to update data on my Respironics machine. The only problem is that I don't use a Respironics machine. The firs CPAP I had was a Respironics, but it had been replaced in 2010 and I had never posted ...

Re: OSCAR Suggestions & Bug reporting
Ive been running Sleepyhead for a number of years, and decided to Install OSCAR. The Installation seemed to be going well, with OSCAR transferring my old Sleepyhead files. However, when OSCAR opened, I got a popup telling me that OSCAR needs to upgrade its database for Philips Respironics System One...

Re: Bad mask fit and low ANI?
For the last month or so I've noticed something strange with my CPAP readings. Every so often when I check the info reading in the morning it will show a "bad mask fit" but also a low AHI. I use Sleepyhead, but don't check the readings every day and when I do I can't always remember which days this...

Re: Plane trip with CPAP machine
Carry your CPAP with you on the plane. As medical equipment it doesn't count toward your carry on allowance. You will have to take it out of its case and put it in a tray just like a laptop to run it through the X-Ray machine, but TSA agents are used to seeing CPAPs and it shouldn't get any special ...

Re: TSA regulations regarding flying with CPAP
I can't remember the last time a TSA agent did any sort of inspection of my CPAP. I remember once when they swabbed the outside of my bag, but I don't think I'd ever had them swab the machine itself. I always take the CPAP and humidifier out of the bag and put them in a bin. I might try to just leav...

Re: Slimline vs Standard Hose
When I got my new machine last year they gave me a slimline hose; I asked whether I could use the regular hoses with it, since I had several extras from my old machine, and the DME rep said yes. So a couple of months later I was on a trip and the hose tore where it connected to the rubber. I didn't ...

Re: CPAP Mask/Moustache
My pressure is 14 and I didn't have any trouble with my mustache the nasal mask I was initially given six years ago. I had even stopped using the ramp feature a couple of years back. When I got my new machine last February my DME suggested that I try using nasal pillows instead, and had no problem w...

Re: CPAP and Airport Clearance
You will have to take your CPAP out of its case and put it in a bin, just like you would a laptop computer. It's been several years since I've had a TSA agent ask to do any sort of inspection of my CPAP, and then IIRC it was just to swab the case and open it for a visual inspection of the contents (...

Re: Hotel stays & CPAP - what to do with Darth Vader when away..
I've never had any concern, or problem, with housekeeping doing anything with my CPAP. I just curl the hose on top of the machine so it's out of the way (unlike at home, where it just lays on the bed next to my pillow during the day). There's never been any indication that it waas touched or moved w...

Re: requirement for a new rx yearly?
This reminded me that I need to call my neurologist to get a renewal for some medicine; last year when I needed the renewal she called the pharmacy and gave them a prescription instead of specifying a number of renewals just said "renew until XX/XX/XXXX" which meant that I could get refills as often...
