same day surgery

My husband needs an angiogram. Does anyone have any experience with the anesthesia used for this. He does not use a CPAP machine at this time.

mabrester,

Does he have sleep apnea?

I don't think they put you under for that proceedure. They want you to be awake and alert to monitor your progress.

Good luck to you and your husband.

Yes they will put him our somewhat, probabely Demerol. This will put him mildely to sleep, to keep him still, but he still can hold his breath when told to do so. Thanks for the reply.

I have had an angiogram. You're NOT put under like a general anesthetic. It's a valium/combo mix, relaxer. You have to follow a few instructions during the course of the test, (cough, sigh, breathe in/out)
It didn't hurt, just a little pressure puncture and the cardiologist may ask him if he wants to watch. (I didn't). I told them I didn't want to be aware of one thing, and I wasn't. Nicer part of having it done, is you will know immediately the results and what is the next step. Don't worry, he's in good hands, the doctor is right there, you're in a controlled tight setting.

Hope that helps.........?
