Greetings,

The S8 Elite is a strait CPAP machine, which is different from an Auto Adjusting CPAP Machine. Before you decide on a machine, it is good to understand the key differences and know where you stand on each feature.

Here is a link to the cpap.com Machine FAQ:

Here is a link to the APAP (Auto Adjusting CPAP) Compare Chart:

Please ask more questions here if you have them.

Johnny

Being that my Dr. prescribed this one, does that mean that after seeing my results from the sleep study he thinks this is best? I mean I have sever sleep apnea from what the results were and what I have seen on here. I had an AHI of 106/hr and my saO2 was down to 74% . Is this maybe why he had a straight cpap ordered for me? The pressure I think they titrated me at was 13. and that got me down to 2 apneas and hour. Does this warrant the straight cpap? Being that I am 35 yrs old and no other physical problems maybe warrant the straight cpap being that I might not have the exhalation problems?

Goofproof: 1 out of 3 ain't bad. Seen worse odds.
Chaso88: I've had the S8 Elite since Dec 8 and can't fault it yet. Get on the internet and see what features the machine has. I like it. I would say go with your Doctors recommendation on the machine but don't let anyone tell you what mask is good for you. Only you can do that. It ain't easy. Sometime trial and error. All I am saying is be absolutely sure that if the mask selected doesn't work you can get another one. No charge. If the mask doesn't fit then nothing is going to go right, the best machine in the world is no good. If you check out the post I think you will find mask leakage and fit to be the major item of aggravation.
Good luck. Don't get discouraged. It's not an easy adjustment but think how far ahead of the game you are with all our experience. I'm not talking about just mine. I'm still a newcomer but have learned one H--- of a lot from reading about how others have solved their problems.
See you around.

As OJ Says, "If the mask doesn't fit, you must acquit"

Sorry, I couldn't resist, time for bed, rest easy all.
