The Saga Continues

Post by Jerry69 » Mon Dec 12, 2005 6:05 am

When I downloaded to Encore Pro this morning, only last night was available. I did not erase the card yesterday, so there should have been four nights. (I did add a 'Device Prescription, to record my change to the CPAP pressure, up from 6 to 8.) The EP 'Details' report did include 'Daily Details', however.

Thankfully, I have My Encore to give me trends and even a 'Daily Report', so I don't really need the report feature of EP...except it is nice to be able to see when, during the night, the various events occur. This is only available as the 'Daily Details' report in EP (I think?).

Maybe all days will be available in the EP report tomorrow morning. Who knows?

Jerry

Jerry,

There was a discussion awhile back on the forum about changing pressure by programming the card. The consensus was that when you do that, it wipes the data from your card. I've never done it, so I can't speak from personal experience, but that's what others have concluded.

Thanks, Den. Must be what happened. Encore Pro is unpredictable, isn't it?

All Data Last Night

Post by Jerry69 » Tue Dec 13, 2005 1:12 pm

This morning I downloaded two nights of data. The 'Daily Details' were there for both nights. This is what you would expect, but has not happened. That is why I opened this topic.

I've concluded that you should not record any interactions to the Smart Card from Encore Pro. This seems to erase the card or disrupt the EP report process.

So, I'm going to let this thread die. 'No point in whipping a dead horse.'

I Need to Beat that Dead Horse - Jerry

Post by Linda3032 » Mon Jan 02, 2006 4:56 pm

Okay, received the 2factors reader from Hong Kong and Hubby got everything installed and working (kisses for Hubby)

Anyway, the reasons for resurrecting the dead horse are:

1) I can't find the "not erase" that Jerry mentions. My dang card gets erased every time it's read. Hubby and I have tried everywhere to find a non-erase button.

2) Is there any way to take the Encore Pro readings (I have 3 of them), and get a full report which includes all the data?

Yes, the MyEncore reports are nice, but I just like to resolve all the little issues.

Thanks in advance for any info you can give me, and Happy New Year.

Linda

Linda,

Find your way to this directory:

C:\Program Files\Respironics\Encore Pro\Utilities

There's a file in there called "Don't erase data after downloading.reg"

Double click on that file and that should fix it.

Best wishes,

Den

Thanks Den. That should do it - won't know until I get another few days to download. Hubby said, "I knew I saw that sucker somewhere",

Can anyone out there help with question 2

Linda

Linda,

I was going to say that Encore Pro should be giving you that already....however, since your card was being erased, maybe that could explain why that isn't happening.
After you have downloaded your card and click on the day's data, there's a place where you specify "full details" and a place to select a date range. Check to see if all the dates are being included. If this doesn't work, you might have to wait for the daily accumulations on the card.

By the way, after you download your card, there will be a question whether you want to erase the card......answer NO to that one.

Thanks Den. I'll watch for the "erase" box now and answer NO. Hope it works.

True, since the data on the card gets erased each download, then each report only has a few days of data. The only report that will combine all 3 downloads, is a simple report - it automatically includes the correct dates. But for a full report, it won't let me change the dates for prior or later downloads.

It's okay. I'm not going to a new sleep doctor for 3 months, and will have plenty of time to gather data on my card. It will be nice to just take the reports in for him to look at, rather than have to describe how I'm doing.

Thanks again.

The last time I erased my card was when I was about a week into it. The next day I read the card ok, but the previous data was represented by a date and a goofy line and question marks, sort of like =========??, (or something like that). No compliance data, no details, nuthun. Since then I have upgraded to EncorePro 1.5 and the new MyEncore, and reinstalled MSSQL server, and set the "do-not-erase" flag in the registry. But I am afraid to erase the card for fear of losing all the data. That of course doesn't make any sense in terms of the MSSQL database, it shouldn't be affected. But I can't explain what went wrong the first week. Is there a problem with erasing the card after downloading? Does anything get lost from the SQL database by erasing the card? Sounds like from what Linda said maybe it does. I don't want to experiment on MY card. Seems like after a while the card will run out of memory, or it will have so much data it will take a long time to read. What is the recommended practice?

Ric,

The card is supposed to hold about a week's worth of "detailed" data and about 9 months (or so) of compliance date. When the card gets full, it starts writing over the oldest data. Consequently, the detailed data should be downloaded about every 5 or 6 days, I would assume. Like you said, whatever is in the MSSQL database SHOULD stay there regardless of whether you erase the card or not. AND, like you, I don't want to experiment with MY card, either. Everything has been working just fine since last May 14th and I don't want to mess it up.

Best wishes,

Den

Ric, Den,

The only thing I get form Encore Pro that I can't get from My Encore is the 'Daily Details' report. I print a hard copy of it, using both side of the paper for consecutive days. The rest comes from My Encore, and My Encore gets it from the MS SQL database, I think. So, I don't think it makes much difference if you erase the card - after getting the 'Daily Details' report printouts. It will begin to record current data, again, the next night. But, why erase? I'd say just let it record over the daily data and retain as much of the other data as it will.

Jerry
