Trying to get what I need. Equipment hassle

Post by sapphireskye » Wed Dec 28, 2005 12:44 am

Well, I have tried to use it again, even though the mask is causing nothing but trouble. I am so frightened the power will go out before I have a chance to get a backup. I know, I am paranoid. Now, I found out today I cannot run my remstar plus with humidifier on a battery backup anyway because this humidifier is integrated.. I will have to hound my DME to get this other humidifier that is separate from my Remstar Plus called the H2.I had spoken to the reps at respironics to discuss battery backup and the makeup of my system and the base with the humidifier. They said they do have one that can be plugged in separately. I talked to the guy ordering the Hans Rudolph mask for me and he is helpful but seemed too busy to help me with this part of the process until another day. I wish I had the money to get a battery backup now but that has to wait. I really wish I could get through to this oxygen company that having the proper setup will really be helpful in alleviating some of my anxiety in complying. I am trying to be patient really am. Heck, I really do feel like you have to jump through hoops lol. I am sure with constant persistence I will get the oxygen company to help. I really never realized how much trouble this would be lol. I am sure some of you can relate.
A new year will be coming. My resolution is to start eating healthy, and to make this cpap work for me. I am goin to do whatever I need to to conquer this fear and do my best to be patient.

whoa whoa whoa
Don't panic about the humidifier not going on battery power. LOTS of humidifiers won't go on battery power. It'll just act like a passover humidifier while the power is out. The only difference is that the water won't be warmed by the machine. It will cool off slowly.

Gotta get a separate humidifier

Post by sapphireskye » Wed Dec 28, 2005 3:57 pm

Because my humidifier is integrated with the machine I am using, I cannot even consider using a backup powerpack for the cpap itself, until I can get my DME to get me the separate H2 humidifier that respironics makes. That is what I was told by respironics. Then, I can get a backup supply because the humidifier will plug in separately. It doesn't bother me that the humidifier cannot be used on the backup, I just want to have the cpap without the humidifier base that makes it impossible to hook up to the battery backup. Plus, I am concerned I am gonna have issues convincing my DME to get me a different humidifier.

God bless

I think there was a discussion recently that came to the conslusion that an integrated heated humidifier doesn't draw THAT much juice that would affect a UPS. I'm sure a computer or server draws MUCH more than a cpap with integrated HH.
