Has anyone had experience with Fisher & Paykel Oracle Ma
I have this damn stuffy nose many nights that wakes me up. I am thinking of the Fisher & Paykel Oracle Mask instead of a full face. Any thoughts?

I not only had the problem that Mike and Rested Gal mentioned, but I also had severe swollen lips every morning, that I described as a botched Botox injection, not to mention painful, but also developed TMJ and mouth irritations. It also always felt like the device was about to pop out of my lips, regardless of how I adjusted it. The tighter, the more swollen and painful my lips would be in the morning from being pinched. AFter a week, I bought an Activa.
These are not necessarily going to be your results as all masks can work differently on different people. This was just my unpleasant experience with it.

I was going to mention ask Lori, but I see I don't need to. Lori warned me of the challenges with the 452 & she was right.
I suspect that Oracle 452s are the least used mask that people buy. The one that very quickly ends up in the bathroom closet (along with any other failed attempts )
Cheers
DSM
(We also both tried the Dr Sue NB device & that too is in our respective 'failed experiments' cupboards )

Gary,
I recommend that you see your doctor. They can prescribe many nasal sprays that can help stuffy noses. It is important to get this taken care of soon because it can get very bad and interfere with proper treatment. It will just get worse and worse.
Make sure you have the humidification set properly also, since dry air can irritate the nasal passages causing these kinds of problems.
As I understand it, this is a very common side effect of CPAP treatment.
Good Luck!

Unfortunately for me, too much humidity also made my congestion worse. It was truly a balancing act - enough humidity without too much. A full face mask works, sort of, but I've actually had the best result with the Swift or Aura from a congestion standpoint. I thought pillows would be an impossibility, but they actually work better for me. YMMV
I have had excellent results with Oracle.
Matter of fact, it is the only mask with which I have remained pleased.
In the past, I've used three different ResMed nose masks, one ResMed nasal pillow, a couple of other nasal pillows, and a Fisher full face mask.
Perhaps the reason I'm so tickled with the results for the Oracle is that I am a confirmed mouth breather ... seems verrrrrrrrry difficult for me to keep my mouth closed. My wife says this is a major problem during waking hours ALSO .... <ggggg>
I realize that I'm definitely in the minority in my liking the Oracle, though.
good luck with whatever you use

I am a HUGE fan of the Oracle. I also have tried nasal and full face, and have been the most pleased with this one.
I had the lip problem listed above (botched Botox) - but you just have to adjust the dial to allow a little more room.
My full face mask sprayed my wife in the face with air whenever I faced her. This one does NOT do this. I also had no problem stopping myself from breathing out my nose - but I may be a mouth breather, too. I can also wear my glasses and the mask at the same time (a HUGE plus).
My only complaints are that I can't find replacement mouth pieces and I seem to salivate a little more than I'd like - so when I wake up and pull out the mask, a pool of spit comes with (Gross, right?).
I need the replacement mouth pieces, because I seem to chew or bite the mouth piece while sleeping.... anyone else do this?

OPAP
When I was in Michigan, before I came here because I couldn't tolerate the nasal mask 6 years ago and was claustrophobic I was supposed to go to the University of Michigan to have a new sleep study and try me on the OPAP (the oral mask and it is a dental device plus cpap I guess). I am assuming that it is different from the oracle. I never did get that trial. I ended up in Colorado and got a sleep study with a full face mask instead. I however called Fischer Paykel about their Oracle mask and they said it wasn't for someone unless you had complete nasal obstruction. But, ya know what since you can order it on your own if you have the money, it is worth trying. I mean I think for any mouth breather, or person with sinus problems it is another option. At least you got a couple people on here who can tell you a good experience with it. This for me would be an option of last resort. Here is an article I found on it.

I wish that was all I had to do, was "just adjust the dial to allow a little more room." I tried every conceivable position and adjustment. The Botox look always happened. If it was too loose, the device would feel like it was about to pop out of my mouth and would pinch the lips at the ends trying to stay in my mouth and caused it. When it was tighter, it just happened anyway.
I guess that is why no one person gets THE result from one device. It all is a very individual thing. That's why the questions like "What is the best full face mask to use" or "What is the most comfortable mask out there" are such subjective ones. What works for one may or may not work for you. Unfortunately, as badly as I wanted the Oracle to work for me, I couldn't handle it. But I'm glad you're finding it to be so good.

That's too bad LI - but as long as you've found something that works, that you enjoy....
Another reason I like the Oracle, btw, is that it isn't hindered by my beard like my full face mask seemed to be.
