Opinion on mask switch

Post by Largo » Fri Nov 25, 2005 1:25 pm

Hi, I'm going to be trying out a M. Activa nasal mask next wk, but would like to know if anyone has switched to it from the Ultra Mirage, or a Comfort Select, and whether it really did improve the seal, and also just how much bulkier, wider, etc. it was compared to the others - in terms of function. I sleep on my front, so it matters, even though I have rigged things so there is some space for my mask (and it works with the ones I've used). Thanks a lot, Largo

I am being Guested again. Severeena.

You may want to try out masks before you purchase a mask.

The Ultra Mirage is a leaky noisey thing.

Not all masks fit our faces.

Most masks are small fits all faces, medium fits all faces and the large fits all faces.

I hope you find a good mask that fits.

I have both the Activa and the Ultra Mirage Full. The Activa is almost the same weight as the ultra given the increase in its bulk due to the bladder suspension. It does seal better than the mirage and is prone to a little flexing on your face as you first start up.

You need to keep the straps loose and let the bellows expand to push it back onto your face. If it does leak at some point you just need to reach up and pull just the mask section away from your face and let it go to reseal agaisnt you. I think that is what I like best about it. It leaks no where near as often but when it does its an easy in the dark fix.

As far a footprint it is same size as the Ultra Mirage Nasal Mask.

Good luck

Thanks Mike, you answered my questions (someone told me the Activa was a lot 'bigger' than the others because of the inflation).
