I just started using my Flexifit 431 mask 1 week ago. Everything is going well except last night I noticed an annoying hissing sound of air leaking through the Non-Rebreathing Valve (Item J in the manual, attached to the elbow, not the tiny holes at the nose bridge). This went on all night and I got fixated on it and couldn't sleep. Is this normal? I am thinking maybe I never noticed it before and it was already there the whole time...not sure though. Can Someone please let me know if air hisses out of theirs too?
Thank You
Leo
Flexifit 431 Annoying Sound Non-Rebreathing Valve
Re: Flexifit 431 Annoying Sound Non-Rebreathing Valve
Here is an update on my post, seem to be alot of views on it, though no input.
I did call my DME about the flexifit mask, they said it shouldn't leak through non-rebreathing valve and gave me a brand new mask which made the excact same SSSSHHHHHH sound of air leaking through the valve. I contacted the DME to contact Fisher Paykel and they finally did, the latest response is that it is normal to have some air leaking out of the valve. Of course this is contrary to what another user on another form told me she had heard from Fisher Paykel. Anyhow I am done charging windmills and am now used to the soothing SSSSSSHHHHHHH sound.

That was probably me on the other forum Fisher Paykel told me to get the valve replaced, but the DME replaced the whole mask. This one leaks just as much as the first, about an hour after turning on the machine. I'm getting used to the hiss, like you, because this mask works better for me than others I've tried.
Re: Flexifit 431 Annoying Sound Non-Rebreathing Valve
I'm not sure about the FlexiFit but I do know that some Quattros had(may have been upgraded now) a problem with the elbow which was fixed with teflon tape. You can do a search on "teflon fix" and see if the FlexiFit is mentioned having a problem too.

Hi Bons. Yes I was refereing to our Posts on the other site. Well we didn't eliminate the hiss but at least we now know that it is normal. Its good we shared our info because its hard to get accurate info with all the inconsistant messages we both received.Bons wrote:Leo514 wrote:Here is an update on my post, seem to be alot of views on it, though no input.

Thanks. I will check it out. The less noise the better!DoriC wrote:I'm not sure about the FlexiFit but I do know that some Quattros had(may have been upgraded now) a problem with the elbow which was fixed with teflon tape.
