Hello All,
I am new to this forum but have been using CPAP for three years. I have been using an Ultra Mirage with a Devilbiss 9001 with a passover humidifier set at 13. I have been reading that the nasal pillows are better for side sleepers (like me) and I have had some leakage problems with my mask. I am looking for some recommendations for masks / nasal pillows. Also, is AutoCPAPs a better choice than regular CPAP?

Side Sleeper
Hi New Member, kudos for wearing your CPAP 3 years! The Vista mask is great for side sleepers, no forehead support to dislodge the seal when you're on your side. I use it nightly and never have any pressure marks on the face in the morning.
In general Auto-pap would be better because your pressure requirements are different throughtout the night and also vary with what sleep position your in. If the insurance will pay- go for it.
Good Luck
Bob

use of nasal pillows
Hi. I am also new to the foum. (What a find!!) I tried Nasal pillows. I found that the pillows cause my nostrels (sp?) to be irritated. I can't use that type of device. (Althought I kept it for an emergency.)
Good Luck.

try using some antibiotic type ointment like Neosporin on your nostrils when you get up in the morning and again when you go to bed. I had the same problem when I started with nasal pillows, but after a few days my nostrils seemed to get used to it. Also, I didn't follow the manufacturers recommendation of washing the pillows before the first use. So that might have caused the irritation too.
