Waking up with nasal congestion

Post by Dave » Sun Jan 16, 2005 12:06 pm

5 months on CPAP and all was good until winter. Now I wake up every night at 3:30am because I can't breathe through my nose. I've tried Flonaise, Sinuclense, and saline sprays. None have worked completely. My next step is to try a full face mask so I can at least breathe through my mouth. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Dave, I think your next step is a wise one - a full face mask.

Even if you find another solution to clear the congestion that prevents you from breathing well through your nose (has an ENT looked for obstructions in your nasal passages?) a full face mask is a good thing for every cpap user to have in their arsenal - to use on nights when the nose simply stays congested, no matter what sprays or meds one uses.

My favorite full face mask is the ResMed Ultra Mirage FF.

Hi Dave. I have the same problem. I just spoke to my doctor and there is a procedure to shrink some of the tissues inside the nose to prevent this. I wrote a a longer message about this over here:

Ask your doctor about this.

Are you using a humidifier ? Might try 1 if you're not.

Cheers,

Chris
