Easy way to clean H3i humidifier!

Post by Country4ever » Tue Jun 08, 2010 7:27 am

DUH. I feel really stupid. For several years I've been trying to find a really flexible brush-type thing that would clean the residue out of my H3i humidifier.
then a lightbulb went on in my head. I just stuff a sheet of paper towel down into it and add baby shampoo and warm water and slosh it around in all directions for awhile. The towel comes out easily, and gets almost 100% of the residue. Hope this helps someone whose brain is as slow as mine!

The "easy" way to clean the sealed version of the H3i chamber (as supplied in North America) is to put a couple of desert spoons of Jasmine (or other "pointy") rice into the dry chamber, put the yellow cleaning plug on the chamber and shake it around for a minute or two.

This will give the interior of the chamber a good scourge out of 100% of any residues, then you can tip the rice into the trash, and just rinse the chamber with clean water.

Cheers,

Bill

What if you left the rice in the HH while using it over night? ... could you have rice for breakfast in the morning?

I have not cleaned my HH reservoir since I got it about 3 years ago. No need to as it is just as clean as the day I go it. Trying to clean it might actually get it more dirty than it is in it's current state.

But if it was dirty, I think Bill's idea is pretty cool.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

I have a bottle brush that I bent and trimmed down to fit into the hole. It works quite well to get the crud out. I tried the paper towel trick with a hemostat but it goes too limp. I gave up on distilled water in the winter - hauling home big jugs of water on the bus and over slippery ice while I had pneumonia was no fun and a waste of my precious energy.

The designer no doubt got an extra bonus for making these things so hard to clean with so many corners and crevasses so that people will give up and buy new ones frequently.

Planned obsolescence in action!

I use the slinky Polident denture tabs to clean mine.
Two tabs in hot water,
15min wait, rinse.
Too easy.
