Activa arrived...sigh
Activa arrived...sigh
Well, just my luck, my Activa arrived and is missing a part.
The "port plug" that blocks some holes into the mask (??) seems to be missing. When I hook up the mask to my CPAP machine air just blows out full blast as the machine tries to keep the pressure up.
Sigh...don't think I can use my Breeze, either, since I've developed a pretty bad sore on my nose.
Not sure what I'm going to do tonight...
Can anyone tell me if that plug is clear or that greenish color? I want to search and make sure it didn't fall out of the bag somewhere, but I sure don't remember ever seeing it.

Frank,
That plug is clear and has two little prongs that kind of plug up that area at the bottom of the mask. Is there some way you could perhaps use some type of tape or put something in them and tape over them for tonight? I'm going to go look at my Activa and I'll get back to you on this one. We have to be able to lab rat something out of this one here. Be back...
Frank,
Just looked at the area that gets plugged and they are two tiny little holes. If you have paper medical tape, I would bet you could cover them tonight with no problem. They are tiny. If you don't have it and have a drug store open right now, you could probably run out and buy a small roll. Get the paper medical tape, though, that is very thin and flexible. That should do it if you really don't have the plug in the box somewhere. I have two Activas and they both came with the plugs in them already. You're sure you're correct about this? It is right below where the hose connected to the middle of the mask.

Yep I'm sure - no plug. When I put the mask on and turn on the machine, air gushes out where the plug should be (as well as through the four little exhaust holes on the swivel part of the hose, as it should).
Maybe a small piece of duct tape? Think medical tape would hold under pressure? I do have some medical tape, I'll give it a try tonight.
Wish me luck!

Well the tape held - for the time that I actually used the mask.
Went to bed a little after 11pm, and fell asleep fairly quickly. Woke up around 2am and seemed to have some issues. A leak on the right side of my face, and I suddenly seemed to be having issues getting comfortable on either side, without the pillow pushing on the mask too much. After 15-20 minutes I got up and used the bathroom, and tried again. Still had issues with the mask just not sitting right when laying on the pillow, so I gave up, removed it, and put my Breeze back on (despite my sore nose). Took awhile because I was now pretty wide awake, but fell back asleep finally, probably around 3:30am.
Pretty tired this morning - I know that brain fog will hit early today.

I think I had them adjusted right - they seemed pretty loose, but the mask still sealed properly most of the time. They certainly weren't squeezing my head at all, and the mask had room to "pulse" a little as the pressure changed when I'd exhale (c-flex likely causing the mask to pulse like that?).
Thanks for the help by the way - just realized I never thanked you for the tape suggestion.

No need for thanks. Glad to help.
Try to use the top adjustment, too, to angle the mask for a better fit. Also, I found I used to have to sort of edge off the pillow with the mask a bit to keep it from moving. One of the reasons I love the Aura so much. No need to worry if you side sleep that you may push the mask out of place (phew). Better luck this evening. And call the seller and get your plug!!!

I emailed cpap.com (where I ordered it) late last night, and they called me already this morning. He offered to overnight the plug with Saturday delivery! I told him to just use normal overnight so it arrives on Monday, since the tape seemed to hold. No need for them to pay the extra for Saturday delivery, when it wasn't even their fault (the mask was in a sealed ResMed bag, after all). Great service!
He also explained that the plug/holes there are for oxygen lines. Interesting...
