Classifieds section...

Post by gcsdls » Fri Jan 14, 2005 9:55 am

Hi Y'all,

I guess this is really a question for the moderators, but I don't know how to get in touch with them, so here goes.

How would it be if we had a classifieds section for those who wanted to buy or sell new/used CPAP equipment privately? I know there are risks involved, but I think if everyone realizes the risks involved, caveat emptor, etc., then we can all benefit from having the currently scattered offers to buy and sell equipment already on the board consolidated into one category.

What do you think?

Hi George,

I like the idea (in theory). The caveot is that the operation of this forum is generously funded by the folks at cpap.com. Although allowing this on the forum is comlpetely up to them I think it would interfere with their business.
They have been very gratious in "looking the other way" when an occasional solicitation comes up on the forum. I think there is also the legal issue of an individual selling the machines specifically due to the prescription requirement.

I'm not meaning to speak for any of the admins, but I felt I needed to post my opinion in regard to a classified section and express my gratitude for their sponsorship of the forum.

I like how your thinking though, George
Sincerely,

Since it would be expensive to be sure that each buyer had a valid prescription, it is hard to imagine that anyone would be willing to take the risk of setting up a prescription item swap shop. Ebay continues to end CPAP auctions for this reason.

True...at least for the machines. But there's still the masks, headgear, etc., that don't need a prescription.

Anyway, just a thought....
