when should I have another sleep study?

Good evening, all! I had gastric bypass surgery this past fall and have since lost 122 pounds, and am continuing to lose weight. I have been steadily able to reduce my pressures from an all time high of IPAP 25/EPAP 13 with a PS of 4. I currently have my machine set on IPAP 25/EPAP 4 with no PS, bec...

Re: Reducing pressures after weight loss

Thanks for your replies! I think I will try to lower the EPAP by one pound tonight and see how things go. I suppose the worst that will happen is that I will have more apneas and not sleep well.....not good, but not the end of the world.

thanks!

Reducing pressures after weight loss

Hi, all! I haven't been around in ages due to many things going on in my personal life. I apologize and hope to be more active on the boards again, now that life has settled down a bit. I do have a question, however. I have recently lost nearly 50 lbs, and will be continuing to lose weight because I...

Re: cold air in mask

I see in your profile that you are using a heated humidifier. Have you tried turning it up? The higher you turn up your humidifier, the warmer the air should be. Good luck!

No worries about power outages!

I have read so many posts on these boards about folks worried about suffocating during a power outage while wearing their masks. Well, last night, I found out for myself that there is no way I would ever sleep through a power outage and suffocate. We had a major thunderstorm and out power went out. ...

Re: Help with data card, please!

Thanks, Nord. Actually, I made one last phone call to the DME this morning and I think I have resolved the issue. When I get home from work later on, they want me to call them back and read them my usage hours over the phone. Apparently, that's all the insurance co. wants. Then, I have a service cal...

Help with data card, please!

Let me start of by making it clear that I do not have a card reader or software yet. I do check my own numbers each morning via the screen on my machine, but so far that is as far as I have gotten with my data. However, my DME requests that I send my Resscan card to them every few weeks so they can ...

Re: should I use tape w/ mirage liberty to get better numbers??

Hi, Chad- I see that you are still using your Liberty and actually, an AHI of 4.8 with a Resmed machine is pretty good. However, I don't think that taping your mouth makes much sense with that particular mask, because the whole point of the liberty is to allow you to breath through your mouth and us...

Re: might not need tape?

Uncle Bob- You may be right. I have been trying to be diligent about my sleep hygiene. Now that I actually have the opportunity to get some quality sleep, I am trying to be responsible about it and maximize it! I am so curious to see what happens over the next few nights. By the way.....interesting ...

Re: might not need tape?

Yeah, I am still pretty amazed that I kept it shut. I am thinking that I had better stop and buy some more tape on the way home from work. I'd still like to give it at try without the tape, but I think it would be wise to have some next to the bed so if I wake up in the middle of the night spewing a...

might not need tape?

I have always had chronic sinus problems and when I began my treatment, I was told that I "had" to use a FFM mask because of mouth breathing. Thanks to everything I have learned on this forum, I quickly found out about my other options, and I have been very successfully using a Comfortgel Nasal Mask...

Re: Any "younger" people on here?

I'm 36 and finally starting to feel like it! I had been feeling like I was at least 20 years older than I actually was for so long, because I was always so darn tired! I was just diagnosed a couple of months ago, but I know now that I had OSA for years. I remembered being teased about my snoring whe...
