Update about me not being able to get the CC...
ok well I posted a while back about I wanted a new Comfortcurve but since I got that one from the doc and my home healthcare company couldnt seem to get the CC I was wondering what I could do and yall told me to stay on them and all and I did and it worked! I had to call today as my filters hadnt made it to me yet so they shipped those out today and I questioned them yet again abotu the CC. I was like I want to know WHY ya'll cant get it. Hmmm, isn't it funny she was like hold on a min and then magically they do have it just not in that office...Grrr, don't you just love these ppl?!?! oh well at least I will finally get a new one I found out I can get a new one every 3 months so I am gladly take advantage of that and start collecting them since its the only mask I seem to tolerate that way if they ever stop making them I will have a nice little collection of them going lol...
So you have the Comfort Curve???
The following is from a previous post of mine:
Been on cpap since January and still only make it a couple of hours a night (I think) because of the claustrophobic feeling I get. Which I believe is due to the uncomfortable pressure on my nose. Just found out about the comfort curve mask though and ordered it Monday (seems less invasive). I'm hoping that it will at least help me to last 4 or more hours a night.
What is your opinion on this mask??? And, if you have any, are there any tricks I should know in advance for making it work (if right out of the box - it does not)?
I'm trying very hard to continue staying focused and optimistic when it comes to my cpap therapy. Having to pay for my masks out of pocket does not help. (My insurance is the worst! Luckily, I have Daddy, that's a VA, has apnea, won't use cpap, and gives me all of his free equipment.)
I really hope this one works for me.

BP,
I am a very restless sleeper......I can't even count the number of times I wake to turn from side to side to back to side to back. In my sleep study I spent 75% of my sleep time in Stage 2 and only 1% in REM. So I don't think the over the top of my head style will work.
My future plan if the CC did not work was to possibly try the SNAPP or Mirage Swift pillows - even though I'm uncomfortable with the thought of something feeling like it's going into my nose.
Any thoughts on those?

If you are willing to drive across the bay you can see my Swift. I'll even put a clean, unused set of pillows on it and you can try it on to see if you can manage.crazyone wrote:My future plan if the CC did not work was to possibly try the SNAPP or Mirage Swift pillows - even though I'm uncomfortable with the thought of something feeling like it's going into my nose.

crazyone I personally love the CC I can also see why most ppl dont liek it, yeah some nights I wake up and have to adjust it and well unless you are willing to learn to sleep with pillows just right on your side you really might not like the CC, I personally HATE headgear and find this headgear the best for me. Only problem I have had that i had to fix was in the elbows (and this seems to be a common prob with the original CC's which I have) they would leak and whistle well I took a tiny tiny clear rubber band like the ones they use in Barbie doll's hair that you can get in the hair accessories and put one in the little groove of each elbow snapped it back together and it worked just fine.
BP as far as trying the Aura I am not sure I do think I would like it except again, for the headgear. I have thought about that being one of the masks I get though just to have and to try but still debating...[/b]

Hi Crazy one,
I live in Tampa, too. Lori and I both like your photo. I hope you like mine, too.
If you've been using CPAP since January and still are having trouble adapting to it, I think you need to change something about what you're doing. Either the machine or the mask or the pressure or something. Do you use CPAP or APAP? I don't think after using CPAP for 9 or 10 months, it's going to suddenly start working without you tweaking something about your therapy.
More details about your situation might help some of the more knowledgeable posters, like RG or Will, offer you some suggestions.
Good luck and Go Bucs!

SNAPP sticks up your nose as much as NasalAireII does; I liked SNAPP more than NasalAireII but could not get a good enough seal from either. My future plan if the CC did not work was to possibly try the SNAPP or Mirage Swift pillows
Mirage Swift does not stick far into your nose at all and I get a good seal from it.
For me, more comfortable that Swift is the PB Breeze. Breeze can be a bit of a bear to get it adjusted just right, but once it is adjusted, it is, for me, remarkably comfortable. Does not stick up the nose far at all and is very, very tolerant of tossing and turning.
I've tried 7 different nasal pillow systems (Comfort-Lite, Breeze, Swift, Aura, SNAPP, NasalAireII and Infinity) and use Comfort-Lite and Breeze most, with a periodic use of Swift. Respironics is coming out with new headgear for the Comfort-Lite -->I'm really looking forward to this.

Bill,
That's awesome, thank you for the offer. I might just take you up on that if the CC does not pan out this weekend.
Lori,
I love that since I started visiting the forum again, you guys added the photo feature. It really makes the whole thing feel more comfortable while talking about something most feel is a personal health issue. Feel free to add me into the yearbook.
SnoreNoMore,
Yes, it has been since January since I got the machine, but I really didn't get serious with it until about a month ago. Prior to that it was off and on - mostly off. But due to my husband very persistent and annoying nagging about my extremely loud snoring, I was forced back into dealing with that contraption. I know, Lori, I need it and must learn to live with it. I use CPAP right now with a pressure of 8 ramped up from 4. I'm thinking of lowering it to 6 maybe till I get used to it, then bring it back up to 8. My machine is kind of old, so I am saving up the funds for a christmas gift to myself with a newer model. My sleep study showed 19 hypopneas and 6 apneas, but my husband says that it has noticeably gotten worst. Now, I actually wake myself up catching my breath, where as before I did not wake up at all.
PS- Too bad the Bucs did not go very far last weekend. Hopefully, we'll drown the dolphins at our home ship next weekend!
Thanks all for your info and input on the curve and pillows. I will put it to good use in this fight with cpap.

Comfort Curve
I too got the Comfort Curve and have used it exclusively since I got it. I think it is great! I have had OSA for 3 years now and this is my 5th mask. I will use 3 of the others off and on I guess but right now it's the Comfort Curve for me!
I am hardly aware of the cheek pads and really like how it sits just under the nose. Headgear is also great!
I had a problem with leaking at the joints too and use Teflon tape (that is used in plumbing). It works great. I have to change it when I wash the mask --if I disassemble it (don't always do that). I got the idea for the tape on this forum. Thanks!
It's each to his/her own when it comes to masks. The preferences are as varied as those who have OSA and I suspect we will all continue to wait for the "perfect" mask. Is there such a thing?????
