My mom said to me, "Uch. Another (health) problem to deal with!" to which I replied, "No. This may actually get rid of, or help, some of your other issues!"

She seemed to like that!

I just wish I could convince her to join here.

Does she comment on the improvements she sees in your health and well being? That should give her encouragement. Keep us posted.

She does, but I'm dealing with a lot of post-gallbladder surgery (2007) issues which have cropped up now for some reason, so I complain and talk a lot about other symptoms. I still feel so much better with xPAP and do let her know that. I'm starting to lose weight without any change in diet or exercise, so that's got me a bit worried. Not too much, too fast, but still... I'm chalking it up to better sleep for now!

If she needs the mask, she said she'll use it with no problems. She's just not an Internet gal. Maybe I should tell her how much Dori adores me, and then she'll sign up!

Right on Kenny!!!!
I wouldn't push too hard to come here.....I think she'd greatly benefit, but she's got you and for now that's an excellent substitute!!!!
I mean, You can take a horse to water, but don't forget what a wet horse smells like!!!!

I'll be 60 in a couple months, and though I'm getting there, I certainly don't feel old or too old......Mind still says 25. Body says, "Yeah?? Try it!!!"
So I do. Then I suffer. But it's worth the effort!!! The pain eventually goes away!!!

Put me in the column of those that wish we had been diagnosed a lot of years ago.....Probably could have avoided the blood pressure issues, diabetes, and others......But that's 20/20 hindsight -- can only look at the future, and it's better with xPAP!!!!

Good job bud!!!! Keep her on top of things and she'll do great!!!
take care
cheers

Thanks, goose. That's true. I shouldn't push too much; just gentle encouragement. Are you saying my mother is a horse?

Have you noticed improvements in your blood pressure and diabetes? Have any of your ailments gone away, or have you been able to stop, or lower your dosages on, medications?

I would never think to call mom a horse!!!!! No way!!!!

Because of my lack of attention to some aspects of my health the improvements I initially got with my xPAP aren't as pronounced as they could be.....
Blood pressure is stable at about 125/70 with meds
Blood glucose has gone from 103 fasting to about 120 fasting (my bad.....I just love food!!!!). A1C from 6.1 to 6.5 (again, my bad)
Overall my health has improved in the 2.5 years I've been on the hose. If I paid as much attention to some of my other afflictions as I have to my sleep issues, I'd be a whole lot better!!!

Diabetes is a degenerative condition. It's only going to get worse. My goal SHOULD be to slow that degeneration, but being a weak human, the initial portion controls I put on myself when first diagnosed have slowly slipped back to pig-out. I lost 35 lbs in the first 4-5 months, and in the past 1.5 years have gained 25 of it back.....I can do it. Like anything else in life it comes down to "wanna".....Ya gotta wanna!!!!
I don't need 2 burritos. I want 2 burritos. I don't need a whole big bowl of macaroni salad. I want a whole big bowl........
I eat far too much candy stuff for my own good, but if given a choice between a snickers bar and a salad for lunch, I'll always opt for the salad. For me it's portion control and the mental strength to stick with it.......
Towing the line is not something I'm really good at - much to my detriment......
But as you can tell, I know it. Life is about choices, and so far with my food intake, I'm not making good ones......

Take care!!
cheers

Aww geez Goose!!!

I thought you were a spring rooster all these years!! I will be 55 in May, and I know what you mean -- I am still waiting to "grow up". So far it ain't happened.

Last spring the doctor diagnosed me with diabetes with a fasting blood sugar of 136. Said it could be controlled with diet at this point, but I stress I eat. Like you I KNOW I don't need the chocolate (it is a major food group isn't it ) I know I don't need that extra portion, but gee it taste so good.
Start Date: 8/30/2007 Pressure 9 - 15
I am not a doctor or other health care professional. Comments reflect my own personal experiences and opinions.

But dark chocolate is "healthy".....and that's the only kind of chocolate I eat.....

Grow up??? What's that mean???
My kids (son 40, daughter 39) still ask me what I plan on doing when I grow up......
People say, "Grow up!!" and my reply is usually, "What's in it for me??"

hee hee hee
cheers

Did you know that if you eat chocolate while standing the calories don't count!

...maybe we could get her to post one of your baby pics w/the exposed buttox.
