but, more to topic, we have a small tv & vcr in the bedroom, and i've never really thought about it as an obstacle to sleep. but i do find myself checking the time on the vcr if i wake up in the night and i know that clock watching counter-productive to sleep. so, as an experiment, i'm closing the door on the tv cabinet to see if it makes a difference.

The pleasure of reading in bed was a prime motivator for me in learning to use the Nasal Aire II mask. As far as cats go, I've got one that will eat anything even suggestive of food, pills or whatever else, and one that will eat hardly anything suggestive of food. Hope he never gets sick! Perhaps I'll distract him with juggling if he does....

I used to watch TV in bed nightly pre CPAP treatment. Now I watch TV in bed nightly for about 15 seconds if I am in bed before my wife. I turn the Tv on, get in bed get my mask on watch the TV to make sure it isn't something that will keep me awake and I am off to sleep.
Our TV is used as a nightlight and that's about it.

absolutely no television allowed in my bedroom. i'm sure my husband would try it if he thought he could get by with it, LOL... i can't go to sleep at all with any sort of light -- sometimes even if the full moon is shining through a gap in the curtains it bugs me just enough to keep me from sleeping... or if i'm charging my cell phone on the nightstand and the little LED is on...

now napping during the day, that's a whole different story

I used to be that way. I could not sleep without complete darkness. Once I started as a firemen and working different hours and jumping out of bed at home to run to the firehouse at 3 am, I got to the point I could sleep outside under the sun with music pounding away.
But complete darkness is still nice.

We have a tv in our bedroom, but it is very tiny and old! My Husband will turn it on and get caught up in something but will always turn it off if I ask... I don't watch much TV anyhow.

I voted yes and I work for the people who say not to watch TV..shhhhh

But I do have to saying after watching people in the lab that fall asleep with the TV on, their sleep is disturbed by it. Every time there is a change in volume (woman screaming, gun shots) the pt. will jerk, and get knocked out of a deep sleep for a few moments. So watching it and turning it off, I think is ok..???

Pre CPAP, I would watch for 30-45 minutes in bed. Since the hose, I can't make more the 3 - 5 minutes and then off goes the TV. Guess that, to me, air in the nose is my cue to shut down.

I go to bed to sleep... and by the time I hit the sack I'm ready to sleep.

I spend my time watching the TV in the rec room... and can often end up in a semi-conscious state if I'm a little tired and the programming is boring... so I watch TV to relax then hit the sack to sleep.

Speaking of which... I stayed up a little too late last evening and feel it today.

Well my entire living area is in the one room now, so technically, yes, I do have a TV in my bedroom. I have it divided in to a sleeping area and a general living area- which includes the computer and the TV.

I don't really watch it though, so I can't tell you the last time it was even on. I don't have a comfy chair to sit on up here, and I can not see or hear the TV from my bed. So it has to be something really interesting to get me to sit in this computer chair to watch or on the floor

We don't have a TV in the bedroom and I never allowed our children to have one either (they are now 18 and 21, in college and living at home and still don't have one in their bedrooms --it is their choice now not to have one ). We do have one in our living area, but we turned our cable/satellite off last June (as a sort of experiment) and don't watch anything anymore except maybe a DVD every twor or three weeks. We honestly don't miss it and have found ourselves doing other, more productive things-reading, socializing with friends, etc.
