Before I invest in this hose I am curious if it helps with dry mouth? I only get dry mouth with full face mask, since I need it when I am congested, I am wondering how many of you have this hose, and if it helps. What other areas does the heated hose help in.

i've had my heated hose about a week
before that i was only using cpap for a week, maybe a bit more, so i don't have a lot of experience, but..

the heated hose has 100% solved the rainout problems had. my first week or so of cpap I felt a bit like noah once i got the heated hose, all of those problems went away.

Yes I think it does. Here's my logic, and I'm sure more technical types will correct me, if necessary.

If I turn my humidifier up, I won't have such a dry mouth, but then I get rainout, because of the warm moist air hitting the cold hose. But if I use the heated hose, that keeps the the air nice and warm and moist until it comes to my mask or pillows.

have you looked into heating a regular hose using a heated reptile cable found in most pets stores for around $20

I have had the sleepzone hose for only a few days, but it has enabled me to use the humidifier the way it was intended for the first time. There are a number of reasons for dry mouth, and breathing through your mouth is one of them. Even if you humidify the air, you may experience dryness in the mouth and throat, although its should be improved with higher humidity. The air is definitely warmer and no condensation occurs which leads to leaks and drips.

I've had quite a few dreams about getting rained on recently, only to wake and find my mask all wet!

I don't qualify as a technical type, that's my thinking, too, Katie.

Just from my experience, I use the Hybrid mask, have my mouth open a lot while I sleep (I'm assuming, since I wake up that way a lot!), have a heated hose, and a VERY dry mouth each morning. I do have the humidifier on 2. I'll bump it up a bit and see if raising the humidity with the heated hose helps with the dry mouth. Love the heated hose because, for me, the air is just too cold without it, and I don't get rainout.

Hi---same question that I asked and I bouth a heated hose that I have used for over two weeks. To answer your question about heated hose help with a dry mouth---"depends". Mouth breathing for me is the cause of my morning dry mouth. The heated hose allows me to set the heated humidifier at a high setting and I enjoy breathing in the warm, moistened air a lot.

Dry mouth solution (for me) is to use a chip strap and this was best solved by purchasing the Cap-Pap/with chin strap.

Heated hose is a comfort item that I would recommend for those of us that have a heated humidifier and sleep in a room that becomes cooler (causing condensation to collect in the hose) as the night goes on.

Cap-Pap/with chip strap is the best solution (so far) for dry mouth which could be caused by mouth breathing.

For dry chapped lips I use Chap-stick overnight.

Also, look into the side effects of any medicatrion that you use as this could contribute to the dry mouth problem.
