Switch ResMed Ultra Mirage II to a Mirage Micro?

Postby RastusW on Thu Nov 19, 2009 11:48 pm

I've been using an Ultra Mirage II for years but I have to tighten the head straps pretty tight to create a seal. So much so that I'm developing a furrow on the side of my nose. A couple of nights ago the mask broke. Now I need a new one.
I was wondering if anyone had any strong opinions regarding the Mirage Micro. The adjustable dial looks like a good idea. I'm always leery of switching mask because I mail order and can't return them.

Rastus,

The Micro is a good mask but no one can tell you if it's right for your face. If you mail order it from cpap.com, you can purchase return insurance and send it back if it's not to your liking.

Edit: The Micro will definitely be more quiet that UM II. In addition, its air diffusion is not directional.

My personal choice of all the various masks I have used is the ResMed Activa. I find that the bellows action nasal mask seals well with a very minimum of strap pressure. For my experience it's the most satisfactory mask I have found, by far.
