Is it usually the way it goes that when you first get you cpap device that it is rented and at some point you eventualy own your own....?

And if so how long is your machine rented before you own it...???

RockNRoll,

Can you tell me if the machine you finally bought was the one you were renting ....? If it was the rented one was it new or used....?

Or did they get you a completely new one....?

NO the one they originally got me was brand new in the box, a Resmed with case and all. I took to it from day none and saw no need to change so I just kept it.

Now, if I had it to do again and knowing what I do now, I think I would want to experiment and make them let me try a few different machines. But I travel so much and having to have them to come out to myn house was a pain and I still ove the machine, it has been through hell and back with me and has never faltered. But, I also would go through BillMy Insurance.com instead of a DME and would be happier and if I were to have paid my deductable and copay, I would have come out cheaper. But I am stubborn and I told them they could come pick it up unless they dropped my charges and I pointed out to them how much they got paid by my insurance and that I KNEW how much and they grumbled and dropped the charges. If you are strong, IMHO try this, you will win!

My DME told me that the ins co would probably call me after I had used it awhile & ask if I was still using it & did it help. I called the ins co (BCBS) on 8/31 & asked them what the procedure was & was told "we'll rent it for as long as you need it". I said good, because I did NOT want to purchase this particular machine. I thought about it for a couple days & decided I better call back on 9/2 & ask again. This time they said that it depended on how the DME billed the ins co. I told this rep also that I DID NOT want to purchase this machine.

Last Saturday I got the EOB from the ins co showing the purchase of the equipment.

So, whatever they tell you ... it ain't necessarily so.

Just curious why you did NOT want to purchase the S7?? Were you unhappy with it or did you just want to try a different machine??

Just wanted a different machine. My brother lives in Vegas & wanted the smaller PB420 to travel with. Also, I had decided I wanted an apap.
