Can someone help me with these readings

Post by KristaDeAnn » Wed Jul 22, 2009 12:43 pm

I got the readings off my machine last night. Note: I am using a different mask right now it is a Flexifit 405 by Fisher & Paykel Health Care. It covers my nose only and seems more comfortable..Im just not sure how efficient everything is working.

My readings for the week were
Hi 3.1
Ai 0.3
AHi 3.4
Leak .20 L/S

I dont know if this is good or bad.... Any help would be appreciated..

My setting on my CPAP is 15cm

Krista,

Your treatment is considered to be effective if your AHI is under 5.0, so with these numbers you are doing quite well. As long as you are sleeping enough and feeling good you are doing great. Your leak rate could be a touch lower but its nothing to worry about. Keep doing what you are doing and you could see even lower numbers as your body adapts to CPAP. Congrats!

I agree with alnhwrd, You seem to be doing fine. The resmed machines are known to mark more hypopneas than other machines, that means your numbers would be even lower on another brand of machine. Do keep an eye on your leaks, your machine already has the exhaust rate figured in, so it all real leak. It's not too bad, but try not to let it get any higher.

Keep up the good work!

Brenda

Your data is pretty good. On a Resmed look to the AI & yours is very low (excellent) as for the HI, Resmeds score Hypopneas different to Respironics (which shows some HI component as FL & excludes that from the HI scoring). An HI of 3.5 or below on a Resmed is as good as 0 to 0.5 on a Respironics.

In balance your data is excellent.

If the machine mask setting is still set for the Quattro, then your leak number is still pretty accurate. I checked the Quattro intentional leak chart against the 405 and they are pretty close.

Thanks for all the info...at least I have some guidelines now. I did change the mask setting to "standard". (I think that was the one I choose). Im learning to keep my mouth shut...it hurts if you open it at a setting of 15...YIKES!!

I appreciate the info

Krista
