Series M APAP - Taking it Apart?

Post by zebrajeb » Thu Jul 16, 2009 3:20 pm

OK - dumb question - how do you separate the Series M humidifier from the CPAP? Mine came put together but I want to take it apart for easier packing when traveling. From the book, it looks like the front of the humidifier where the hose connects comes off but I can't figure out how to get it off. Also, what about the cord that connects by hose connection.

Thanks

John

1st John, where the hose connects on the M series is the back of the machine. That makes the front the side where the humidifier tanks slides in.

1. Remove the water tank so if/when you slip there will be no mess.
2. With left hand on the humidifier and right hand 'under' the front of the blower - pull UP on the blower. The blower will unsnap. The 1st time is a bit unnerving bc you think it will break, but the blower will snap away from the HH.

Now you can see you will NOT save any space by separating them and it is easier to pack them together. But you should look at the blower backside where the hose goes - it needs another piece to be able to connect the hose. The piece should be in with the other things you got with the machine.

HTH,
Good Luck

Snort! Honey, are you CHECKING this baggage? (not a good idea) If not, I suggest you keep it together, since TSA will demand to fondle it all. I just keep them together and fork them over to TSA when I get there.

I don't use the Respironics bag, though. I wrap it securely with a wrapping thing that's really designed for notebooks, and then stuff that into a carry on bag. I wrap the cords up with Velcro one wrap and take out the humidifier chamber. They never miss that chamber.

If this is just a car (or other velocipede) trip not involving frisking by the guvmint, ignore me.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

Thanks GumbyCT for your answer - just what I needed. Got it apart without any problem. It was hard to tell from the manual. I can see it will not save any space but didn't know how it came apart. Now I do. Didn't want to break anything. I've had it for a year but never got it apart. I travel a lot so just wanted to see what else might be possible in using a smaller bag to carry my CPAP stuff.

Thanks again.

John

Hopefully, they included the outlet port for using the APAP without the humidifier....

I was just about to say not to forget to install the outlet port on the back of the machine once you have removed the HH. Without it, you can't hook a hose to it.
