Need PayPal experts help

Post by 6PtStar » Fri Jun 26, 2009 5:38 pm

I won an item on cpapauction on June 19th. Sent money by PayPal the same day an hour after the auction closed. Had not heard from the seller so I sent a email this afternoon. He says he has not received the money from PayPal yet. What should I do? Never had any problem with PayPal. Trying to decide if seller is trying something? Anyone ever had PayPal take this long to Pay?

- what does the status say in your account? some payments take a while to verify and be released if you didn't pay with a credit card for example. If it says PAID - call paypal or apply for a refund on their site

double check you sent to the right paypal address too....

PayPal normally sends an e-mail right away acknowledging payment. Get in touch with them about your acct. - maybe something is out of date about it, or who knows, but call them.

The default form of payment with PayPal is usually an "e-check." Those can take 3-4 days before the money actually transfers. If you look closely at the transaction before completing it, you can change the form of payment to credit/debit card. That will give you an instant transfer of funds.

Check your email account to make sure it has cleared and been paid.

It might be that the other party needs to accept the payment. Depending upon their status, etc. they may need to go in and actually "claim" their money. If your account says pending, that is probably what is happening.

You might have sent it to the wrong email address. It should say that the payment is "unclaimed" on your Paypal if the email address doesn't exist. If it does exist but is a different person, that person would probably have to refund it. You would probably have to go through Paypal to get it back. The other person should have received a notification no matter what other status the payment is in. If you sent an E-Check, it would show on the other person's account as uncleared. If you are an unverified/unconfirmed user, the seller might have to accept the payment. They would have a button on their screen that says "Accept".

If the person continues to say they don't have the payment, you can open a complaint with Paypal and they can determine where the money is.

Thanks for all the help!! I think I found the problem. I thought I did a copy and paste of the address but apparently I did not. I thought it was an "i" but it was an "l" so I canceled the transaction that showed to be unclamed and resent it to the correct address. I guess this is what happens when you don't get any communication from the seller.
