i need help please.. question re my gel mask

I just got a respironics profile lite nasal gel mask and it has two little holes, one on each side, with a plug that can be put in to close them. I think it has something to do if you are using extra oxygen. I can't remember if I am supposed to close the holes with the little plugs or not. Could someone help me with an answer so I can go to bed? thanks

Plug them that's where the oxygen line goes.
