a new quattro full face for $64.99 & silicone glue questions

Post by Karla1958 » Mon Apr 13, 2009 4:30 pm

I was just browsing the internet looking for some good prices on a CPAP hose cover and hose and I found this place...

Wow, I think I found some good prices on some new masks.
http://www.amazon.com/RESMED-MIRAGE-QUA ... 961&sr=1-1

This is the storefront: http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html?ie ... W3OPPZCGY9
Do these prices look good or is it just my imagination? The masks seem incredibly cheap to me, and they all say NEW... weird. I thought maybe they were used or something, but I thought that was illegal. If cpap.com has some deal where they will match prices, I think they may lose a few dollars on this deal. If anyone asks them to match that price.

What got me here? I was looking for a cheap hose replacement to have on hand if I should need one. They have a Respironics 6 foot hose for $7.00! Not a bad deal! I just left a site that wanted 55 bucks for the same darn thing. The price differences are amazing. The shipping was only $4.99 but it looks like another place through Amazon has a 10¢ cheaper shipping price.

A weird question here... while I was going through all the medical products at one of the amazon sites I came across this...
http://www.amazon.com/Uro-Bond-5000-Sil ... 6&sr=1-538
a silicone glue here is the information about that product (Uro-Bond III 5000 Silicone Skin Adhesive Uro-Bond III 5000 Silicone Skin Adhesive is hypoallergenic and features a brush-on cap and tamper-proof cap seal. For urinary and ostomy appliances, catheters and breast prosthsesis. Uro-Bond III 5000 Silicone Skin Adhesive is moisture- and perspiration-resistant and a complete specification sheet enclosed. Features: Hypoallergenic Brush-on cap Tamper-proof cap seal Moisture and perspiration resistant Silicone Based Adheres to many surfaces Complete specification sheet enclosed)
---> my question. If a person can't get a mask to fit them at all (for whatever reason) could they use something like this to glue themselves in at night? It sounds kind of weird, but I was thinking as a last resort to people who just can't find a mask to fit that this glue might be a thing to try... maybe. I think if people can tape themselves so their cpap works, why not glue themselves together (or to a mask) if they can't find any other way to get CPAP to work for them. Anyone ever try this? It would be rough on skin too, but I'd think tape would be also. Since I found my mask I don't have to worry about this, but I was thinking for others this might be something to try. Or not?! I don't know, that is why I'm asking the question. Ya'll shouldn't have told me there was nothing that would be a dumb question. Because some days I'm full of it (and it can be anything!)
Thanks for putting up with me,
Karla

I noticed one comment on the seller:
3 out of 5: "Not sure I would buy again. Money refunded by Amazon although I was told the product had shipped. Vendor stated the product was water damaged. If it was really shipped then how was it water damaged There is something strange about this whole transaction. Just be careful!!"

Seller Response: "The item was recieved by us with water damage and we decided not to ship and issued you a complete refund. It will be in stock again soon. " Date: 4/11/2009

Yep, I read that too, But it was only one comment. If they were bad for everyone then there would be more listed, I would think. I didn't understand the problem anyway. The company stopped a product from shipping to a customer because it was water damaged when the company received it from the manufacturer. Or did the customer receive it water damaged? He said he never got it. Weird. That's why it's good to pay with Paypal or by credit card. You always have them on your side if a company decides to mess with you. Most of the time companies are good.

Sometimes, (in my experience & a lot of the time) it is the problem with the postal mail carrier if the things you order never come. My postal woman (pain in the patoot) seems to like to steal stuff! I hate when companies only ship USPS. I've never had a problem with UPS, but if a product comes from USPS it shows up in tracking until it gets to "her" and then the product gets mysteriously "lost"! She lies and doesn't do her job and I fear that if I complain about her that my mail will just stop going all together. I think a lot of people have "postal" mail carriers or they are on the verge of going postal. I know for sure mine is rude, hateful, spiteful and doesn't give a darn about anything but herself! Pitiful way to run the postal system. But what can you do??? Now she is trying to save herself some time so she leaves the big metal door open so she doesn't have to fiddle with locking and unlocking it. This makes my mail (and everyone elses) available for anyone to take. And if you say something to her it's just like you are in her way and bothering her. Now what can I do if something I order doesn't come? My only recourse is to bug the store that sent it, right? So how can a slow shipping problem be the problem of the company if the tracking says when the item leaves the company right on time. Most people would just give the company bad feedback, but I've learned by having three packages disappear (at the postal woman's point of delivery) all from different companies. So sometimes you can't always believe feedback. It could be the mail carrier messing with your mail, not the company's fault. Food for thought when you read the feedback on ebay or any other mostly USPS shipping sites. I never (knock on wood) have had a problem with UPS or Fed Ex.

Yes, the Postal System or FedEx are run on the quality of people working for them. Personally, you pay through your taxes for that USPS postal worker. You and your neighbors should be complaining loudly until her behavior is corrected or otherwise re-assigned.

I know what you mean though, private companies like FedEx and UPS rely on good service to keep getting repeat business.

Little red flags aside from the one negative comment, is that the fact that they need to call themselves "AAA Deals" makes me feel I am watching Coyote and Road Runner - "Acme Sales" But to be fair, a name is just a name. Maybe not the most sophisticated or the most creative name - if they deliver on price and service - all the power and good luck to them.

Personally, cpap.com has my business!
