Auto & Cflex...

Post by Sleepy Boy » Wed Apr 08, 2009 5:46 am

What does it do when you have your machine on the "auto" setting"? Is that helpful along with using "cflex"? Are they helpful to your therapy? Thanks..Larry... Hey, I know I'm full of questions this week, but I've been trying different things on my machine...

Larry,

According to your profile....YOU don't have an Auto.
C-Flex is just a "comfort" option with different settings for degrees of exhale relief. It's NOT SUPPOSED TO have any effect on your therapy as far as allowing more "events" to occur.

It's also a rare occasion when I do use any of my machines in "Auto mode". Straight pressure works better for me.

Hi,

Having a machine in auto would mean that it can and does change the pressure of your system in a responce to apnea and hypoxia events. Some members find that this helps them control or understand their AHI. Others have used this feature to fine tune they pressure settings.

As Wulkman questioned, does your machine have an auto setting? The unit you listed is not a auto XPAP. It sounds like you are just asking a general question. Much more detailed information and links on this topic are located in "Our Wisdom"--you know the "Light Bulb" at the top center of this page.

sleepy boy, if you're talking about seeing a setting called "Auto Off", that should be kept set at "off."

If that's the setting you're talking about, it has nothing to do with making a machine work as an "autopap." Auto Off is a very confusingly named setting which, if set to "On", makes the machine turn itself off automatically when a large leak happens (like the mask being removed.) Best to keep Auto Off set at "off."

Yes, that's what I have, I just turned it back to OFF. I tried the Cfex last night for the first time, I didn't really care for it, felt kinda strange. Thanks, Larry...
