Need help interpreting ResMed software graph

Post by billybee » Mon Apr 06, 2009 7:09 pm

Hi all - I'd really appreciate if someone could explain to me just what this graph shows - I asked my DME (they're the ones who produced it for me, by running the Resmed software when I brought in my Elite II data card), but the two therapists I talked to admitted they didn't know.

Here's the clip:

I can sort of understand the hypopnea events - where the length of the bar represents the time duration of the hypopnea, but the Apnea event is really puzzling - what does the "12" signify, and, in fact, just what is the vertical scale?

I'd appreciate any help

I can't see your graph, but on the Resmed graphs, the little number at the top of the apnea flag is how many seconds the apnea lasted.

No, its doesn't. It's just an indication that a hypopnea occurred, not how long it occured for. You can see this clearly if you expand the horizontal scale.

Only the duration of an apnea is indicated (in seconds).

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks, folks - with this information, I was actually able to see how the events were counted and how the indices were calculated.
