Resmed AirSense 10 for her necessary for a female?

Post by Cathyann » Tue Jan 05, 2021 1:07 pm

Hi.

The AirSense 10 AutoSet for women is $100 more than the regular AirSense 10 auto. Is it really worth the money? Does the regular one do the same thing? I self pay and don't use insurance. Should I fork out the extra $$$?

If you are getting good therapy with your S9, then the For Her model is unlikely to be of any additional benefit.

From readings here, it seems few people use the For Her setting.

Almost any place I have looked on line, the prices of the 2 machines are the same....Currently about $598.

Notes from the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet, AutoSet for Her, Elite, CPAP Clinician Manual:
AutoSet for Her mode

AutoSet for Her mode is based on key aspects of ResMed’s AutoSet algorithm and delivers
therapeutic responses tailored to the characteristics of female OSA patients.

The AutoSet for Her is similar to ResMed’s AutoSet algorithm with the following modifications:

- Reduced rate of pressure increments designed to help prevent arousals.

- Slower pressure decays.

- Treats apneas up to 12 cm H2O and continues to respond to flow limitation and snore up to
20 cm H2O

- Minimum pressure (Min. Pressure) that adjusts according to the frequency of apneas:
If two apneas occur within a minute, the pressure reached in response to the second apnea will
become the new minimum treatment pressure until the next treatment session.

Patients who use AutoSet for Her will still get the benefits of ResMed's AutoSet technology
including improved sensitivity to flow-limitation and Central Sleep Apnoea Detection with Forced
Oscillation Technique.

Hope that helps you understand it some more and to decide if the $100 extra is worth it to you.

Probably not a critical issue to have the availability of that special auto adjusting mode.
A lot depends on your pressures used.
I did use that special for Her mode though...and I rather liked it myself. The part that I liked was that if I had 2 OAs within a minute the machine would give me a new minimum pressure for the night or sleep session. A perhaps benefit....but it's not a critical thing for most people.

Where are you finding that there is a price difference between the 2 models? There shouldn't be a difference....ResMed sells the regular AutoSet and the for Her Autoset to suppliers for the same amount wholesale. There's some price gouging going on here.

Thecpapshop.

Yesterday the reg one was $489 and the women's was $599. I bought the regular one but worried this morning if I should have sprung for the women's. I was going to cancel my order.

Today the basic one that I bought is $578 and the women's is still $599. I'm wondering if yesterday was a typo on their part . Anyways, guess it's not worth the extra cash and I'll keep the order as is.

I can't figure out how to attach a copy of my email confirmation..?.

Oops, 499 my bad. I had lots of points that made it even cheaper. Thanks everyone for helping me.

I would have used www.cpap.com and gone on their chat line to get extra goodies.

But www.cpap.com likes to sweeten the deal with extras/discounts, like heated hose, tank, etc.
At least when you talk to them.
And they do match prices . . .

I had a bunch of points that knocked it down considerably. My rx is already with cpap shop.

My heated hose works fine, no need for another one.

S9 heated hose won't work with the AirSense 10 models. The heater connections/plugs are different.

Ok, says it has the slimline. I found the climate-line on Amazon. Is this right?

Yes. That heated hose is the heated hose you will need for the new AirSense 10 model machine.
