Again, Karen, Happy Birthday!

CPAP Talk has given me the chance to make new friends--online and over the phone. I've learned about others' challenges with the machines, and how they solved them (or not), which has helped me realize how important it is to do this CPAP thing correctly.

We've had some fun (remember that mask contest two years ago!).

We've learned about each other and our outside interests.

We fell less alone in our efforts to sleep well.

Karen,

I want to begin with wishing you the HAPPIEST OF BIRTH DAYS, AND A JOYOUS REST OF THE YEAR. Then, tell you what Cpaptalk.com has come to mean to me.

This forum is an amazing place. Two months ago, I had never heard of Cpaptalk.com. Now, on March 12, 2009, it has become an important and vital part of my life. I was feeling desperate before I found this site, my apnea equipment was given to me with very little explanation. Nothing performed as I thought it would, the R.T. didn't return my calls. My doctor had left on a cruise, and his words reverberated in my mind - if you want to avoid a possible stroke or heart complications get your blood pressure down - diastolic was close to 200 and I have forgotten the systolic. He had given me additional BP meds and advised, calm yourself.

I have had a lot of experiences in my life, both good and bad, but, I have never felt more alone than I did January 16th. I was so afraid that I couldn't make Cpap work that I was boosting my BP even higher. My DH supported me, but couldn't help with Cpap, I didn't think of calling for my doctor's back-up. I came to the computer, & typed in sleep apnea, thinking I might find a scholarly article that might make explain Cpap better than my DME.

Instead I found Cpaptalk.com., I devoured posts, Our Wisdom, etc. Initially, I only understood a bit, but I intuively knew, this is where I would find my answers. And, I found the most unselfish people in this world; people who were willing to advise me, give information, help and support. I will be eternally grateful for all the people who answered my posts, made me feel welcome-as you did.

Karen, this post explains what this group means to me - and, what you all have done for me.

Your posts have been both helpful and meaningful to me. You posted a long reply to one of my queries, explaining many things about the forum I never would have known. I copied that post, and put it on the bulletin board in front of the computer and read it often.

Again, Karen, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, and thank you for the welcome you extended to me.
