Ok so here's what happened on my first work day cutting the caffeine. I have to say that I got 6 hours of sleep with the CPAP at an AHI of around 6.3 (Res Med Elite S8 is apparently more sensitive) and a AI of 0.0. I would have hoped for more time to sleep, but I felt very much awake in the morning. I had one Cappucino in the morning at 7:30 am, just before heading to work, nothing else in terms of Caffeine, no soda, no chocolate. Tomorrow I will go with decaf, see how it feels like.

I was very relaxed and was probably a 7/10 on a productivity scale, not wanting to take a nap in the afternoon, no caffeine craving. Although I was a bit tired at 3:00 pm, it soon passed after 5 mins. Some trouble concentrating at 4:00 pm. And I have enough energy now at 6:30 to go to the gym.

Tomorrow will be a Caffeine-free day. See how that goes!

Did you do it? Are you still caffeine free?

I've cut down on mine, but I'm still tired, but much less so.

totally Caffeine-free ...no. But I keep my coffee intake to one double espresso long in the morning. I noticed that I can concentrate somewhat better. I am still not the person I used to be and I am afraid that years of sleep-apnea may have caused some irreversible damage. This really sucks because my job requires lots of concentration. I am now trying to work on other things like going to bed and waking-up at regular times and that even on week-ends. What's difficult is that times are stressful, making it hard to go to sleep. Also I will inevitably, every night, wake-up once...

Here are my numbers with the Res Med S2 Elite, as read on the machine

for the month (this is probably why the numbers don't add up)
AHI 5.4
AI 0.3
HI 4.8

Glad to hear things are going better. They are for me too. I'm not caffeine free either, but I've cut WAY down from pre-CPAP. I also got a data-capable machine on Craigslist, brand new for $200.

My leaks are regularly at 0.00
My AI and HI's are under 1.5
and AHI's are 0.00.

I'm still not "zesty" in the a.m. but better.
