Differences in humidifiers

Post by ChipChris » Fri Jan 16, 2009 2:35 pm

Could you tell me the difference between passover humidifiers, heated ones and whatever else there is?

I just got a RemStar M Pro with no humidifier (used) and the humidifier from my RemStar Plus wont fit it. I thought it would but I think the Pro is an older version. The Plus has an actual socket to plug the thing in, the Pro has only the hose connection. I'll need to buy one but want to make sure whatever I get fits!
Thanks

I really like the Fisher & Paykel HC150 heated humidifier I have. It is a stand alone HH so it is much harder to get water into your machine if an accident happens. It has never come close to running out of water. I usually have it set between 1.5 and 2. It seems to make my M Series BiPap quieter than it was with the integrated HH it came with. I got mine at cpapauction.com and I have seen them on ebay also. Cpap.com is reasonably priced for a new one. I highly recommend it.

That looks pretty nifty. Forgive my ignorance but how do you hook it up?

There is a short 18" hose that goes between the cpap and the humidifier. If you order one get s 2 quick disconnects. The QDs are much easier to get off the tank outlets than the rubber hose ends. When I was using the integrated HH I pulled it off the dresser where it was sitting 2 different times. Both times there wasn't much water in the HH tank and I lucked out in not getting any water into my machine. I really like the tray that teh HC150 comes with. It attaches to the base of the HH and there is room to set yo;ur cpap machine on the tray. It isn't as easy to pull it off the table while I am tossing around in bed. The humidifier works better also than the integrated one. If the HC150 tank leaks it doesn't leak into the machine either.

Everything you wanted to know about the F&P HC150. Great humidifier!! I stick the cpap down to the tray with a couple of strips of velcro.
