Waiting for DME Dude to Show Up
Waiting for DME Dude to Show Up
I'm sitting here, waiting for a guy to show up with a bunch of full-face masks for me to try out. I can't wait for him to show up. I can't wait to sleep tonight. That's all.

Re: Waiting for DME Dude to Show Up
Where are you while you're waiting? At home? I hope that you get a full night's sleep, also. You joined in October. Is this you first mask fitting session with your DME? Keep us informed as to how you do.
Re: Waiting for DME Dude to Show Up
I'm at home. I was originally given the same nasal mask that I titrated with (flexifit HC 407). I like it, but I have chronic sinusitis and that's caused me to be non-compliant many many nights. I'm working with an ENT doctor on the sinus stuff, but feel I need a full-face mask for stuffy nights.
He's here!

Re: Waiting for DME Dude to Show Up
Alright... I tried the Mirage Quattro and liked it, but he only had a medium and large. It looks like I need a small. He'll be back in my area next week, so I am trying an Ultra Mirage (small) for the next week. If I don't like it, or if I'm at least curious about the Quattro, I can exchange them next week. The first thing I noticed about both masks (both Resmeds) was how different the headgear felt. It doesn't stretch like my F&P Flexifit does. Not sure if that's good or bad, or if it's really a non-issue? We'll see.
Anyway, I'll post my thoughts on my Ultra Mirage for the next week, and then make a decision on trying the Quattro (which I'm already leaning towards, just to at least try it out).
I'm looking forward to an incredible night of full-faced CPAP treatment. Take that, you stuffed up nose!

Re: Waiting for DME Dude to Show Up
I understand the stuffy nose problem. There are a lot of people around here who have to use full face masks for that very reason!!!
Re: Waiting for DME Dude to Show Up
Did you happen to try the Hybrid, Eutychus? It's a combination of nasal pillows AND full face mask, doesn't have anything across the forehead, and doesn't have anything going down/in front of your nose, yet I found it to be much easier to keep leaks away than the UM. Haven't tried the Quattro, but my VERY general impression is that forum folks seem to prefer it over the UM, particularly for keeping leaks away. I don't have a problem with opening my mouth when I sleep (only when I'm awake ), so I just have the Hybrid for nasal congestion times and haven't used it all that much. But I'm glad to know I have something that works well for whenever I'll need it. If you end up still looking for the "perfect" ffm, I highly recommend it.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.
