Is this a good deal? Too many hours?

Post by ycartf » Mon Dec 29, 2008 3:23 pm

I have found a Remstar Pro 2 with Cflex with 3799 hours usage for $175 - including the integrated heated humidifier with a new water chamber - they say it is smoke-free smelling too.

Is this worth it - or is this too many hours? Thanks for all opinions and sorry to clutter the board with this.

Tracy

I would give the deal about a C+
Personally, since I don't have a back-up machine, I'm interested in the Everest 2, and its very good for travel purposes.
And with the integrated battery pack, its just what I want if the power goes out.
They run about $200 (without the battery) but if I see a good deal on a used one, I'll jump on it.

Figure most insurances will replace a CPAP at 5 year intervals. Figure 8 hours a night for a year (365 nights). Does this particular model have the options you would like to have? Or is just a bare-bone, compliance data only CPAP? The pre-M Series Pro is NOT fully data capable, the M Series Pro IS. Allow for the additional humidifier & tank that comes w/this one. Is it worth it to you or not? I bought a used auto w/505 hours on it complete w/humdifier, carrying case, etc. complete except for a mask and was VERY PLEASED w/the purchase. But that auto was the exact brand and model I really, really wanted.

According to (I believe it was) restedgal, in a post about what has advanced data and doesn't, I read -

The older pre-M Respironics REMstar Pro 2 and S7 ResMed Elite also record full data, but DMEs are unlikely to be still giving out those. Note: "DME" stands for Durable Medical Equipment. On the message board we often use "DME" to mean a local home health care equipment store, or an employee who works for such a store.

So although I think I maybe need to just wait for something better to come along - shouldn't this one have advanced data?

Thanks, Tracy

Yes, Tracy.......it IS fully data-capable. I have one (my first machine) and it's been a good machine. It did develop a slight wheeze in the C-Flex about a year into my therapy, so I purchased a backup machine before sending it into the factory (through CPAP.COM) before the 2-year warranty ran out.

Whether the one you're looking at is a "good deal" or not depends on how it's been taken care of. The number of hours isn't that bad.....for the price. There are just too many unknowns when buying something from somebody you don't know.

There was the pre-M Series Pro which was NOT fully data capable and the pre-M Series Pro 2 that WAS fully data capable. The M Series Pro IS fully data capable and there is NO M Series Pro 2.

These manufacturers don't use a whole lot of imagination in naming their models and tend to keep repeating the model names which can get durn corn-fusing!!!

It also measures two sets of used hours, one can be seen when first plugged in,(You may have to press something), and after it plugged in another set of hours shows, these can be reset by the user. Only the first set can show you the wear on the unit. Jim

If the first set of hours are correct, if it runs OK, I might offer $100 for it. It's always a crapshoot. I bought one with 350 hours on it and now have 6500 hours, I hit a Bulls Eye!. The rule is don't pay more than you can afford to lose. Jim
