Respironics "Virtuoso" — apap recommendations plea

Post by Sleepopotamus » Thu Aug 04, 2005 11:56 am

I am going to be switching from an apap to an auto pap machine, and the distributor I have been using offers the Respironics "Virtuoso" with C-flex. Is this model a good one? Is there a consensus on which models are the best? Apparently, my insurance will pay 100 percent.

Thanks.

The "Virtuoso" is a old, outdated model. I personally would not accept that at all.

If you are going to get an autopap, I'd suggest one of these (I'm not a doctor!):

Respironics REMstar Auto with C-Flex

Puritan Bennett GoodKnight 420E auto

You're lucky that insurance will pay 100%. So, do insist that the distributor order you a good, modern autopap instead of pawning off an older one they still have on their shelves.

In addition to Rested Gal's comments (which I fully agree with) there is no integrated humidifier for the Virtuoso.

Your supplier has old stock sitting around that he wants to get rid off. Stamp your feet for a new, modern machine.

Spend some time online looking at the Respironics, ResMed and Puritan Bennett websites... find out what is new.
