I also disconnect the CPAP from the humidifier but still leave it in the plastic box during the day, and I put little tissue balls in the humidifier to keep the water from evaporating out (...though I'm thinking of trying out tampons soon!).

LOL!! tampons? That's great I love it!

My DME said its just so if you manage to pull it it doesnt fall on you - to keep it below the height of the bed, mines actually on the nightstand which is a few inches higher then the bed and I have no issues. If it were on the floor my toddlers would have a hayday with it lol.

I also keep mine on my nightstand. My mattress is one of those fluffy pillow-top kind so it gets a bit of height. I don't have a headboard and my nightstand sits directly at the head of the bed with a gap of a few inches in between. I'm eventually going to make a hose hanger on the wall, but for now I just take the hose and let it go act\ross to the bed. I make sure I have enough hose that it doesn't gat taut at the machine end. A stuffed animal sitting on the hose prevents it from moving very much . In the morning I rinse off my mask, reattach it, and then sandwitch it bwtween paper towels to dry on my pillow. This keeps most thngs out of the mask. My machine runs on low pressure for an hour afterward to cool the humidifier water but it also dries the mask as well. I've been wary of putting the machine on the floor because we have dust issues despite regular and thorough cleaning. So far the way I have it works fine. I've only had rainout one time and during that night the AC was kicking in extra hard.

A few weeks ago, I decided to forego the "hospital look" of storing my machine, hose and mask on top of my night table as the clutter of telephone as well as clock radio and desk lamp was just too much.

I emptied my top drawer that I previously used for my socks and drilled a hole in the back of the cabinet to run the extension cord out to the wall plug directly behind.

Evenings are now a cinch as I simply open the drawer, fill the water reservoir and settle in for a good night's sleep.
After a typical night's sleep I wash my mask, empty the humidifier chamber and run the unit in "warmup" mode which blows a low volume of air for some time in order to dry out the chamber, hose and mask. During this operation, I leave the drawer open a few inches so that humidity does not get trapped inside the drawer and damage the wood.

So far, I must admit that I can now invite friends over to my house for supper without rushing to close my bedroom door in fear that they'll see my CPAP unit and mask and think that I work for the Air Force.

At first, I was worried about diminishing the unit's capacity by doing so but a quick search of this site assured me that others have accomplished this task without any problems. Thanks to all for your sharing!

Mine sits on the bedside table which is exactly even with the bed. I don't use the heat on my humidifier so rainout hasnt been an issue, and I Have my hoses suspended above my head with a hook on the wall and some elastic to allow for movement. So even if I started to have rainout I think the way the hose hangs would handle that since it arches up sharply in a upside down V thanks to the hook.

Noise isnt an issue for me since my boyfriends computer is in the same room and we have to have a fan going, AND my boyfriend plays rain/thunder sounds all night long,. I can say If I had to have my machine on the floor I would need a much longer hose.

Never have to worry about leaks since after a leaking humidifier ruined a expensive nighttable years ago. We just replaced the bedside tables with rubermaid rolling drawerd carts. they are the same height as our bed, Top is black plastic and it has several clear plastic drawers. Don't look like much but I am gratefull for the storage!!And use it all!
Mine has 8 drawers and boyfriends has 2 drawers and a door on the bottom for book type storage.
never have to worry about water spilt again.
over the last couple of months I have had to have visiting nurses come in and do bandage changes on me. 2 have noticed the set up I have for my hose/mask. Commenting that they never thought of doing that!! Both are also CPAP users.

Basicly its a cheap coat rack thing with 4 hooks I got from the dollar store for like 3$ has 4 coat hooks on it. Boyfriend uses one hook for his eye mask. I use one for my braclet collection. (I have tons of beadded bracelets)
One holds the elastic for my CPAP hose and the 4th one is where my mask/headgeargoes when I wake each day. Like I said may not look like much but its comfortable & convient for both of us.

That sounds like a great idea. What kind of tampons do you recommend?

Mine sits on the floor next to my bed. My wife cannot hear the unit at all and I just hear the mask. Some discourage the floor as being dusty, but my side of the bed is not a traffic area and isn't any more dusty than the nightstand. Also, it sits on the tray thing that comes with the CH150 and ! change the white filters and wash the gray monthly.

Good Morning,

I built a back and intermediate shelf on my night table. I use an 8 ft hose. The shelf slides in and out for easy access to data card. The cpap compartment top and back are lined with pyramid shaped acoustical foam. This arrangement is very quiet and convenient.
