Before using the APAP machine, I regularly was having strange dreams and waking up disoriented and confused, short of breath and panicky. One thing we tried was panic medication, which helped some. However, I am now convinced that these dreams were apnea related. The best evidence I "had" was that these dreams stopped since I started using the machine at night.
I've only been on the machine less than a week. Unfortunately, last Thursday night, I was unable to use the machine due to blisters on my face from having the mask too tight. After 2 nights without weird dreams, that night the dreams returned. Resuming using the machine on Friday night seemed to eliminate the dreams.
However, last night I had another dream. I woke up, mask in place with no obvious leaks (leaks are pretty noisy it seems). Other than having a rainout, nothing seemed out of place. I wonder if what happened was a central apnea event? Do central events respond to apap? Maybe I bumped the mask and it was leaking and in my sleep moved it back? But wouldn't there have been a wet spot on the pillow, since there was water inside the mask?
What I have noticed, according to the log I am keeping, is that I am feeling better in the morning, not craving a mid morning nap, but still feeling tired when I get up from bed. It's not as bad as it's been before therapy. The mask isn't as uncomfortable as I was afraid it was going to be. And the hose isn't much of an issue considering I toss and turn at night.

Not sure what happened last night
Re: Not sure what happened last night
Jeff,
I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night but I do know 1 drop of rainout is enuff to wake me up.
