This prospect, however enticing, is not making my days brighter!
Yeah, Im 41, run and lift weights about 5-6 times a week, eat right, and am NOT overweight at all. My ENT said that it may be bad genes because I have no tonsils, no adnoids, and have severe apnea.
I have had the CPAP the SNAPP version)machine for a week and I wake up after four hours and cant fall back asleep.
Im also caught a terrible sinus/cold infection.
I hate this, I hate not feeling full of energy, I hate it all.
I would rather have the inserts but my ENT thinks Im not a good candidate, although he is willing to try it.

Point blank. No one did anything to deserve this. If you are overweight it is the result, not the cause, of the Sleep Apnea. If you have bad genes, join the club.

There is no cure, only management.

I have a friend who just quit after 6 months of compliance because he had a cold and he said the mask was leaking. I told him, insurance would buy him a new one. He said why should he bother, it wouldn't help his high cholesterol or his diabetes. I printed out 25 pages of stuff off the internet showing it would and that his Sleep Apnea probably caused all that, as well as the heart attacks he's already had. And still he won't go back on it. I told him at breakfast the other day that he might as well write his will (and that was with his wife sitting next to him), because if he didn't use it he was going to have that final heart attack and die. I'm really brutal that way.

To begin with, I have been “behind my mask” since Jan 03, 2005, and I am not going to quit! It has been very rare that I have not used my mask, etc. when I sleep.

My question is quite simple. What did we do, or did not do to deserve being required to strap pieces of hard plastic to our faces, or to cover our noses with hard plastic devices, or to insert devices into our noses, and attach these things to an air pump via a 6-foot long hose to keep our throats open while we sleep?

While it is true that I have had somewhat worse conditions in my life, this is in my past.
I am speaking only of the present.

Thank you for allowing me to vent my feelings.
Having to wear this mask every night sucks. There's nothing I can do to change that except stop wearing it. If I stop wearing it then I'll stop complaining. Yep you won't hear another peep out of me. Cuz I'll be dead.
