Re: Swift FX dummie question

Another thing with the Swift FX, do not tighten, keep it a bit loose. Believe it or not, the FX works much better loose.

Re: I hate CPAP.

Seriously, you will get to the point and soon when CPAP is just second nature and you'll go back to hating more important things. I think about all the things using CPAP has given me back. I now enjoy being an avid cyclist again. I can hold a job, and accurately do it. I no long have bags under my e...

an AHA moment from CPAP to Auto

I have not been on here in a while. Been on CPAP for 4 years in May. Since that time, I've had the energy back again to ride my bike almost 5K miles per year, and realized alot of other benefits. My doc only wrote me a Rx for straight CPAP so that is all I got. I ignored all the talk on here about A...

Re: Where do most people put the hose?

I put a plant hanging hook a 18" above the bed, route enough length of hose through it to allow me to turn, and never looked back.

Re: Cycling, CPAP and Sleep.

Thanks for the compliments. Got a good deal on the bike on Craigslist. It was a personal commitment I made to myself when I started feeling better on CPAP and I wanted to try and live healthier. I never really have as much time as I'd like to in order to ride, but I have done a bit considering. Ride...

Re: Cycling, CPAP and Sleep.

Hi there, I have always been an avid cyclist, but that took a back seat for almost 2 years when I had lots of problems sleeping and hence no energy. Been on CPAP for 8 months now, bought a nice bike back in September (a 03 Trek 5200 full Ultegra gruupo, flight deck computer, shimano spd pedals.) Joi...

Re: One Night without CPAP

I can attest to this. We lost power here for 2.5 days. I thought, "what's the big deal, I managed for years without the CPAP," as if it is some kind of luxury. After the first night of no power and no CPAP, not to mention a night of almost NO sleep, you can be sure I bought a generator. My next purc...

Re: unsupportive family

As I always like to say, going to my mom for support (cpap or otherwise) is like going to the hardware store for milk. BTW I AM 30# over weight which I am trying to lose, but then my neck size is 18" which I think stands the weight thing on its head.

Re: First night on CPAP.

Not sure what mask you are using, but I think you said you were getting full-face. As for the pressures, remember to take into account that you have intentional leak rates caused by the exhaust ports. If you look at the lit that came with your mask, you will see the chart with the leak rate at vario...

Re: Curiosity Thread - Data check frequency?

I was checking about once a week but I have not read the card for over 2 months. I do check the data on the machine about once a week. I can feel that the therapy is working and my life has changed from it. I am back to myself, enjoying bicycling again, and having more energy than I have had in a lo...

Re: First night on CPAP.

Conga, I have chatted with you a few nights, glad to hear you are taking to it like a duck in water. Call your sleep lab and request a copy of your report (with condensed graphs, about 5 pages) and if they give you a hard time, remind them it is your records and you have a right to see them by HIPAA...

Re: Yup--I may now be paranoid with DME's

Try Craigslist (Craigslist.org) and look for the local or surrounding areas where you live. If you do find one, Please open up and clean it or have someone technically versed clean it and make sure to change the filter and buy your own hose and filter. I have seen CPAPs for $50--$100 on Craigs so th...

Re: How frequently does insurance allow mask replacement

I have Anthem which is the same as BCBS, new mask and headgear every 6 mos. new mask every 3 but if before 6 months, I would have to for headgear if needed new hose every 6 new grey filter every 6 new fine filter every month (they usu. come in 6 pack tho so if the DME is good, they will advance) new...

Dreamstalker, that's why I said I Beleive... In most states it is generally a felony to prescribe without a medical license, and you do need a prescription to get a CPAP because it is AT a prescribed pressure. When a medical preofessional changes the pressure, they are prescribing a different pressu...

There are a couple of places for factual advice. You can click on the light bulb here, and you can Google 'Apnea Support' and come up with the other place.
