Respironics Total Face Mask?

Post by johnnysleep » Sun Apr 06, 2008 10:12 am

Has anyone tried the total face mask? I have a larger sized head...not really that overweight but from what I have read it might fit. Thanks for the help.

Rooster had it I believe. Said it was hard to keep a seal.

Apparently it was intended for patients that are unable to move around.

The total face mask is not the same thing as a full face mask. A full face mask covers your nose and mouth. The total face mask covers your entire face from what I can tell. I would think it would bother my face and eyes having constant air blowing on them.

I have tried the Resmed full face mask and did not like it. It would seal with out strapping totally smack tight against my face. It vented down the length of the nose. If I turned over, facing my wife, it was then blowing cool air in her face or back of her neck.

And no she didn't think I was trying to send her message nudge nudge

Respironics makes the total face mask that I was refering to. It covers your entire face including eyes, forehead, etc. It seals around your face and not on your face.

It looks uncomfortable in my opinion.

I have seen it posted to get this mask only as a last resort. I am sure if you search on google you will find more information about it.

deerslayer,

Sorry to hear about your dad!!

I just remember reading about it -- I have not tried it out.

There was one on cpapauction a while back. To be honest I bid on it more as a novelty than anything else. I didn't win the bid as I was not going to pay much for it since I knew I wouldn't be able to use it.

Since everyone's head (at least I assume) is different I don't see how one size fits all --just my opinion.

I tried this mask for about 2 weeks, honestly it isn't a bad mask, for me anyway.

The biggest issue I had was with feeling the air blow over my eye lashes, it kept me awake some nights. It does have a very wide seal on it, however it is a single wall seal, made out of the same material that the outer seal on the Comfortgel is made of.

There was NO side sleeping with this mask on since the side of the mask was actually on the side of my head.

I do know of a Dr. who uses this mask exclusively and has been for about 4 years now.

I DON'T KNOW IF I'M DOING THIS RIGHT . I HAVE THE FULL FACE MASK THE FIRST ONE I HAD I COULD NOT HOLD A SEAL, BUT NOW I HAVE THE KIND THAT COMES WITH DIFFERENT SIZE SEALS AND THEY WORK REALLY WELL
